Never thought of that. If I get extended coilovers can I use the stock uca's for a short while if I don't go wheeling and drive easy over bumps and stuff

Try looking at the Skid Row Offroad skids too. Everyone was initially steering me towards Bud Built Skids. But I found out I could get Skid Row from Four Wheel Parts for less than direct, free shipping, and military discount. Ended up being cheaper than the Buds (even though the Skid Row ones cost more initially). They're stout as heck, have openings for oil changes, countersunk bolts, have additional plating over the Bud's, and come already powdercoated

I had my extended coilovers on for about 8 months before getting UCA's. I'd keep the sway bar attached so you don't overextend your OEM ball joints, but you will be fine.

Just as long as I take it easy. That's good to know. Would hate to buy the coil overs and just stare at them till I can get uca's lol

Thanks! I'm going between saving up for these, a bumper or doing a bunch of small mods with some maintenance. Not too sure what I'm going to do.

Yeah I saw that pic of your skids, they looked pretty rough

Have you driven enough with the new gears to notice any mpg changes?

Eh I get a little better mpg with it being over geared vs under geared. But honestly not much difference. If your whole purpose of doing gears is to offset the cost by saving gas, it won't offset the cost. I am very happy with the extra power at high RPMs though.

U shouldn't have to change your driving style IMO, just don't go crazy flexing.. Also your alignment will suffer but nothing you can't deal with

Hmm that's a tough one.. If you NEED maintenance that's that's a no brainer, but otherwise I'd honestly put a bumper at the top of the list.

Now go bang those skids on something!!

I've looked into it a lot.

However if it has a w58 its a 2jzgt. Aka. Not turbo. So not worth it.

It'll be an expensive process but is totally do able. Still toying with the idea myself. Be about 4-6k give or take to do it. Need to be able to do some fab work too. Mainly motor mounts.

Eh you'd be suprised. The w series are not as strong as the R series though that's for certain.

Plus an r150 from an early tacoma will literally bolt to a 2jzgte anyways. With an r154 bellhousing. So 4wd is kept.

Busy this week so far. Monday got the hood mounted and pins welded up with the help of Chris at BBM. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1433991806.616448.jpg
Tuesday I took apart the front end and prepared it for paint. Finished the last coats on the bumper and left it to cure. Also did work to the Hellas I had since the amp to bulb wires were too short so I cut and extended them rather than buying new ballasts. Also added in wiring for the small 194 bulb that is in the euro beams and will be hooking them up to the parking lights. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1433991971.954206.jpg
Today started painting the core support to blend with the tube bumper better and painted the hood pin tabs to prevent it from rusting. Letting the last coat dry right now before I splice into the parking light wire for the Hellas and get that and the bumper mounted back up and then put back on the fenders. If all goes to plan all ill have to do tomorrow is a Carwash before the tacomaworld oc meet up tomorrow night. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1433992169.153865.jpg

Damn, forgot I needed a 12mm hex key. Guess I'll just have to grab one in the morning from Sears.
