Annual OR/WA TSF Camping and Wheeling Shindig

Well, this is me being overloaded again and not being able to keep track of my own stuff. I have a family reunion on the 18th. If I want to be balls-to-the wall,

Get into camp the morning of the 17th
Leave camp the morning of the 18th and go to Woodburn (technically Hubbard)
Go back to camp evening of the 18th
leave for home sometime on the 19th

 

Ugh, Woodburn? Your family Russian or Mexican? Lol

 

I think I'd be up for the 17th. And as for Woodburn.... X2 haha

 

I said Hubbard. My uncle and aunt host because they have a central location, a big yard, and there's the Hops festival.

Racial aspects aside, my uncle and aunt are a pretty stand-out couple.
He's retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and worked on carriers during the Vietnam War. He looks like he would be Dick Van Dyke's brother. Most of the town knows him as the go-to guy for small engine repair.
She spearheaded a project to build the Marion E. Carl Veterans Memorial in town (pictured below).

 

I do know Hubbard. Nice little town. My parents normally live on the outskirts of Brooks, so I grew up in all of those small towns.

 

Where will everyone be meeting on the 17th then? I don't know the area at all. How far is it out side of Tigard?

 

Yeah, Grandma used to live in Woodburn pretty close to Hope Lutheran. I remember when the downtown section had signs that I could read - not so much now.
When she died, I was offered first dibs on buying the house. Call me crazy, but I declined

First post has most everything, including this. If you are indeed coming, then also determine what day you plan to show so we can maybe caravan you in.

I might come as early as Thursday night and try spending the morning of Friday finding the trails over in Trask.

 

I plan on leaving California early thrusday morning and trying to find a group that will be camping thrusday night. If anyone plans to meet at a camp site thrusday night let me know if you can.

 

Are you driving from Cali just for this event?!

 

Yes. There are no trips that i have seen for northern California. So a little road trip and some four wheeling sounds like a good vacation to me.

 

That is indeed hardcore! My advice is to spend Thursday night at the McMenamins Grand Lodge so you can settle in to a good bed, good meal, and some mighty fine beer. Have us caravan you in when morning comes.

I should be in for the ride. Not going to go nuts on the trail tho as there is a chance I'll be selling the rig before long.

Just not using it much these days man. I'd like to keep it but it's a parking lot decoration at the moment so we'll see.

 

Bumping the daytrip meetup at Tahuya (Discover Pass Required) on Sunday July 12th. still in the feeler stage, seeing if i can stir up enough interest. If you want to go, please PM me, so i can get a headcount? Thx.

I would suggest a separate thread to keep things straight for yourself.
I'm going to try getting a guy from my search & rescue to come, he's been wanting to organize a run but never gets traction. He and one other guy would be in if the dates work. I'll email now.

 

Please put me on the list for camping Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday. I will probably arrive early afternoon on Friday. Moderate to Hard (no damage) difficulty. 1 adult, 1 child, possibly 1 more adult. I am trying to convince another couple Tacoma dudes locally to come along as well.

I am bringing a heep with me... We will be camping friday and Saturday night and heading home Sunday morning. Looking to do hard trails, maybe extreme, depends on how "extreme". I don't care about armor useage but I'm not a big fan of needless, excessive pinstriping or rolling. This will be the Long Travel shake down run
