255/80/17 or 255/75/17?

I really want a 32.5 inch tire but there just doesn't seem to be one. I want to stay with a narrow tire, so that's why I'm only looking at the 255s. These will go on 17in FJ wheels. I have the 1.6in eibachs up front and wheelers AAL in the rear. I'm not looking to chop the cab mount but don't mind trimming plastic and losing the flaps. Will the 33in tires fit or should I play it safe and get the 32s?

The tires I'm looking at in the 255/80/17 are the BFG KO2s and the 255/75/17 are the Bridgestone Revo 2s. I expect the KO2s to have a harsher ride, but it is a truck so I'm not too worried about that.

 

ive had both those brands. didn't like either one. I have some revo2s on now that Im pulling off after only about 25k miles.

 

I've had 3 sets of Revos, the original ones, not the 2s on my Avalanche and loved them. Better than the original BFG ATs. With all the changes in both, who knows?

 

I'm thinking maybe the 255/80/17 ST MAXX might be a happy medium. They seem to be shorter than other 255/80/17s and should fit with the 1.6in lift.

 

I don't see 255/80/17 as a KO2 size on the BFG site , do you mean the KM2 ?

I just put on 255/75/17 dynapro ATMs. I have 885's and the icon progressive. No rubbing at all, but i still do have stock sport wheels on, hoping to go stealth 6's to push the tire out a bit, which may nene that I will rub a tad on flaps. Another member who has the 255/80/17 did have to remove flaps and trim with the st maxx, but did not have to CMC, he does rub a little at times though. Size wise I think the 255/75 looks good and one of the main reasons I went with it was because the 255/80 all had a decent amount more weight than the dynapros I decided to go with.

 

Pictures please!!! I'm about to have 885s on OME shocks, and a 2" AAL in the rear. I've got Dynapro ATMs in 265/70/17 currently on the stock TRD Sport wheels, and think this might be my preferred upgrade when it's time to replace my current tires.

 

What didn't you like about the Revo 2s? Or are you pulling them off at 25k because they're worn out?

 

That's what I have and couldn't be happier. Did have to trim a few things though. However they look great and ride great.

They aren't worn out. as they have worn they haven't been what they were. They were terrible in the snow this year. They are wearing unevenly and squeal cornering at low speeds. I think they probably have 10 maybe 15k miles left on them. I rotate with each oil change and alignment is fine they tell me.

Great Info. I'm looking to run the same setup with the Hancook 255/75/17 on stock TRD sport rims. What struts do you have? If I run Billsteins on front and rear with the 885's, should I set my front struts at 1.75 or 2.5? I'll also be running the Icon progressive in the rear. Thanks!

 

I'm trying to decide between the 255/75-17 Hancook Dynapro ATM and the 255/80-17 Cooper ST-Maxx. I'll be running Billstein 5100s on front and rear with OME 885 on front and Icon progressive AAL on rear. I'm really not comfortable with trimming but I will if its very minimal. What suspension are you running with that setup? Will I be okay running my setup and should front be set at 1.75 or 2.5? Thanks!

Hey, sorry for delay. I have OME front and rear, 885's and icon progressive with overload still in

 

I ended up getting the 255/75/17 Revos. I'll go bigger next time.

 

I have a full OME kit. You can get away with not trimming much. I know today out wheeling I stuffed my tires in my wheel wells there wasnt really bad rubbing. Its mostly just in the front.

 

lol You and me both. I'd kill someone for a good P-rated 265/75R17 AT tire.
