So I found out my truck has been in an accident. CarFax is clean but AutoCheck shows a disabling damage to the driver side rear. I guess that would explain why my tailgate always stuck when I tried opening it. This really pisses me off.

being in the car business (you, not me) you should already assume carfax doesn't tell the whole story and it doesn't hurt to look for body work before you buy any car, new or old, we bought a corolla with 6 miles with a resprayed bumper, took it back the next day and got a different one

The wholesale guy from our credit union told us to never buy anything new or used without a independent mechanic going over the car or truck..He had some real horror stories even on new ones .

    I have a few mods
so I made the decision....even though as much as I want my tires/fenders/3rd memeber with locker and gears...im going to delay it again....I figured paying my truck off by the end of the year would be better. december im hoping to have at least $5,500 saved up as that'll be right about what I'll have left to owe. Unless things change....but that's the plan now, I'd love to get her payed off early and get that extra $350 a month and if I can manage to get a roommate in this house, ill have another extra $500. So....tiny tires it is for another 7ish months lol

Why save up to pay it off vs. putting what you were saving towards the principal and saving interest money?

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding what you're asking, which I'm pretty sure I am. The $5,500 is what's left on the loan I owe, not including the interest that goes with my monthly payments. I owe about $7800 right now left on the truck and by december Ill owe $5500, which by then I hope to have that extra money saved up to pay the loan in full and officially own my truck

I think what he is saying is as you save send extra paymentd for principal only, it pays the truck off faster & you won't pay as much interest cause there's less principal.

Guys, I have already read through tons of threads on this and just though I would ask your opinions. My truck has been making this popping/creaking noise for a little while now when going through my neighborhood or parking lots and turns. Not sure what it is just yet as I haven't started messing with it. If you have time to watch this vid I just made when coming home and could throw out your opinions that would be great. Turn up your volume and listen for the popping and creaks cause there are a lot of them if you can pick them up. Wish I had a go pro.

I would just like to get the truck paid off, why save up $6K for parts when by the time I get that money saved up, thats more than what I owe on the truck.

does it sound something like this Simon? I havent gotten the chance to actually listen to the popping. but what comes to mind is either check the tie rods make sure they are tight and then check your LCA bushings. although i dont think yours should be the LCAs as its a new truck...but who knows, gotta start somewhere
