I was stationed there for 3.5. Only reason I would even go back and visit is because my wife is from Newport News

    ok so long story short,

my pelfreybilt plate bumper got finished much much earlier than expected. not a real problem for most, except for the fact that im in the military and still deployed. i tried to plan it out so that the bumper would be completed just after i returned home but thats now out the window.

i have never shipped freight before and have absolutly no idea how this works. i need to ship this thing to a commercial address. im trying to find information about how and who to ship this through google and its just a bunch of BS that im sifting through.

so, for those who have shipped bumpers/large heavy items, how the hell does it work?
do i find some random ups/fedex store and see if they recieve freight? are there dedicated freight shippers/receivers who i should try to contact?

    thanks

EDIT: its a nightmare for me to try to call back to the states to figure any of this out, so im having my wife help and contact some places once i figure out what i need to do.

I can see what I can do. I would not be able to store it, could you pick it up the same day it arrives?

Talk to the shipper and see how long they will keep it at their distribution center for you to pick up. I know that when I ordered live fish (big heavy ass boxes) the way to go was ship via FedEx where they basically go from airport depot to airport depot. The shipper drops them off at that depot and you pick it up at your depot. Time was more of a concern with something like that so I'm not really sure what the options are to either delay delivery or just let you pick up at their depot.

If you need a commercial address to ship it to, at my shop in the Springs we receive freight all the time.
It's off of north Nevada, in a strip mall. Small woodshop. Let me know if you need help.

Fastenal does not ship to Colorado anymore, said the route is already full without the freight. Pelfreybuilt should be able to handle shipping it to someone near your wife and work out those logistics instead off you figuring it out. I checked with some folks and R&L Estes Conway Roadrunner etc were all responses. I suggest getting the weight nd dimensions of it on a pallet and then bcc all of those companies for quotes.

I ship with Conway all the time. They actually stopped delivering to my shop because it's too tight of an alley access for their trucks. But since my supplier doesn't give me any other option for shipping, I now get a call from them every time I have a pallet coming and then just have them hold it at the terminal in Colorado Springs for me to pick up.

Anyone want to lend me some money? I'd buy this thing in a heartbeat...the impulse buyer in me wants it as I'm looking for another first gen...but one this immaculate is not the route I wanted to go. So id be stuck with two clean trucks. But omg I want it so bad. The thing is like a time capsule when I looked at it.

Wow that is clean, and expensive. I wouldn't pay that much for it though.

That's actually kind of a below average price for around here, for what it is.

Hey I have a freight address you can ship to. If you need it. We can get any size truck there and forklifts to off load it too. I can also store it for you at my place I have plenty of room in the garage. PM me. If you need the help. Another thing I'm in Denver not the springs.

Alright guys, I got it all figured out. The wife found a place right near our house that will allow us to ship to them. Thanks for the help anyways.
