Something wrong with having an opinion?

I just don't understand why your opinion is Toyota should have used a bigger liter engine when its the Government's opinion that Toyota better use a smaller liter engine or go fuck themselves and sell their trucks in another country. If you have a problem with the size engine Toyota has picked, use your time to write a letter to the Government instead of trolling Tacoma forums.

The dude doesn't even remember the context of his own argument. That's a little sad.

There's no evidence to suggest that the 4L wouldn't have meet any and all emission requirements. The 4runner will continue to use the 4L for now.

Yes there is. There is a road map set forth by the EPA. Unless you think its a good idea for Toyota to develop a new engine each year, I kind of agree with the strategy to develop an engine that will meet Government regulations more than 12-24 months.

The 4runner will get a new engine soon enough.

FFS, Toyota isn't changing their mind on your "opinion". Your opinion sucks anyways and "makes no sense"

What you're trying to argue is that the 3rd gen should have it's own special engine, when in reality Toyota knows what they're doing and they sure as hell are beating the competition in one way or another.
If we look at the facts you'll see that reliablity is 2nd to none. So screw off and let's be realistic.

I said I don't care about Toyotas profits, it seems like some people do, for some odd reason. That is all.

They might pull a boner like GM. The initial run of tachs on the canyonado showed a redline of 6500 but the engines rev up to 6800. So the markings on the tach may not correspond to engine performance.

So what if the engine shares some parts with a engine that is also in a car. It wouldn't be the first time that was done. They can tune it for different applications, which they have already said that they are going to do.
The 4Runner will most likely get the same engine that is being out into the 3rd gen Tacoma. Probably next year as its ending its lifecycle soon.

I am for keeping the dual vvti 1gr which is used in 2 other models. Toyota doesn't care about anybody's opinions thats for sure. But I've put my piece out there and if you fanboys want to gang up and attack me, go ahead. Makes you look like immature people.

Not ganging up, just curious why you think EPA policy is Toyota's fault :notsure: I know that today's society reacts better to emotional arguments than factual ones but damn, wake up. All truck engines are getting smaller.

Guess I am showing my age when I wish Toyota could reintroduce the old F series straight 6 just for trucks. Damn those things could pull and lasted forever.

I wish Toyota would bring back the inline 6's in the trucks as well as their cars too. I'll take a straight 6 anyday over a V6. I have the 4.0 straight 6 in my Jeep. Can't kill that engine.

I see a lot of constructive criticism here. This thread is really going places.

Interestingly, posted earlier on a 3rd Gen thread, Toyota refers to the new motor as a 7GR.

Just found this thread, what stands out? Engine misinformation, and your erratic, nonsensical posts.

Might be time to step away from the keyboard and reorganize. Just my .02.
