I just got off the phone with a local Toyota dealer. While there are plenty of superchargers still in Toyota USAs inventory, there are no more Tacoma 4.0 fit kits. All warehouse's are depleted of stock and there is currently 34 on backorder that sounds like Toyota may not fill. There is not a single one at a dealer in the PNW either. My dealer near Seattle was able to find the closest one at another dealer in L.A. and is having it shipped.

So if you are thinking about it, I would advise acting soon. I also found a couple fit kits still available online (that I thought I would have to order).

If you are having it installed by the dealer to have it covered under your factory warranty I would call around several dealers to get the best price. Prices ranged from just over $5k installed to over $8k, which is clearly ludicrous.

Seems to me that if Toyota wants to offload the rest of their S/C's they would be forced to fulfill back orders on fit kits.

I'd love to put one on. But - it's too dang expensive - and I don't "need" it.

The first mod I planned on making when my truck was paid off was to add the supercharger. With 3.5 years still to go, looks like that won't happen. This is a real bummer because while I do like the truck, the engine power is lacking. Not sure how I am going to fix that now.

The more I let this sink in the more I am getting pissed.
The deciding factor for my purchase of my 2015 Tacoma was the availability of the supercharger that was covered under warranty. With-in my price range were several other trucks that all had more power and more creature comforts than the Tacoma. The ability to bump it to ~300hp with a factory covered upgrade was the primary deciding factor. - yes, the factor putting it over the other options. I had it budgeted for two weeks from now (July) and now that is about to be here, they are seemingly disappearing into thin air and the few dealerships that do have them are wanting absurd amounts for them (was quoted $8-11K installed today).

I can understand putting them on an end of life list and phasing them out - but an effective immediately order, I don't. I've always seen Toyota's a vehicles of good build and reliability, but never really drank the kool-aid. This is putting a pretty big sour taste in my mouth as this vehicle is less and less worth the premium I paid for it... (and I'm losing respect for local dealers even more as well).

$8-$11K!???!?! That's absurd. If you're in the Bay Area/NorCAL, I can get you a way better quote than that

Don't really care that the supercharger is being cancelled. It was too expensive for how much power it made.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. Now when I have to sell my Tacoma in "X" years I'll get a great premium for the S/C :D

I'm not hating on the supercharger at all I just don't really see what the big deal is. I mean we all knew it was coming eventually.

No I don't have one and I understand the rush you get from boost. I have access to a turbo diesel when I get the urge for boost!

They had better not don't discontinue the rebuild kit or us S.C. boys are really going to be hating it.

Maybe those that are upset with the discontinuation of the program should contact Toyota Corporate to express their distain for the decision. Maybe if they hear from enough pissed off customers, they'll reconsider the decision.
