I would love to have this BUT, I have a 2012 and tried to program one once using the steps I have found here and it did not work. Someone told me that 2011 was the last year you can self program and 2012 and up need to be taken to the Stealership. Can anyone confirm that?

I just bought a key fob from Amazon and tried to program it on my 2015 prerunner using the link from above. It took me two times but the second time worked

I just programmed mine. Its a 2013. I also just programmed a all in one keyless entry fob and it works. That is if you mean program the keyless functions to work. The immobilizer is a different story. Still gotta do that. Home depot programs the immobilizer but up to a 2006 i believe. But like i said, i can confirm the programming by doing the steps of the whole ignition key in and out and door open and closing stuff. Be sure you confirm the numbers that match and the key codes which are stamped. Mine was stamped "g"

I am confused as well. My key has the "G" on it. Does that mean I need a specific key fob for the entry system to work?

Thanks for all the info. I will probably try this again in the future.

Was on the metal part of the key itself. I ordered a all in one style key with keyless fob built onto the key. I just havent programmed the immobilizer yet. I ordered the software cable setup to do it, just havent

Mine has a "g" i wanna say. Thats how i knew which one to get.
Also when getting key fob that has unlock and lock, there is a number on back that identifies what fob u need. I used that number as well to get the correct all in one fob i needed

Thanks, when I first saw the thread selling those I started trying to figure out if my base model is capable of keyless entry since mine did not come equipped with one. These tacos built are different by region some with power locks etc.. some without. At the moment I'm tryng to figure out if because I have power everything if perhaps mine is equipped to have it but just did not come with that installed. If I can figure it out then the next step would be to get one of these keys.

I would not worry too much. Looks like OP sold it a while ago.

Yes, this all SHOULD be somewhere else, but I am getting some data from this!

Where did you get that from? I'm trying to get the same and couldn't find it. How's it working out for you, flawlessly? I read reports that some of them sometimes don't always lock/unlock and take several tries on the button.

Ha I sold that remote last year. I do have 3 remotes that are the all in ones. Only one has the G on but and only one has an FCC id. the id is GQ4-29T, it also has a H on the plastic on the inside. The 3rd has an A on the inside plastic.

Are you selling these as well? If so, I might be interested in the "G" key. Maybe it will provide better luck to programming our 2012.
