I have a few OEM filters sitting in my garage.... Might not be a bad idea to try the K&N... wonder if fleabay has any for sale???

trying to find the best price on plug wires.... Some sites don't list them as "spark plug wires" I've found "cord set"

I bought a K&N oil filter for my Ranger (UTV 6 wheeler) thru Amazon. Haven't looked for the truck yet. I've been buying the NAPA oil and air filters at my local NAPA store; they have a 50% off sale every May and I stock up then.

 

I know, I know.... other wires usually $65.... Car is 16 yo and not sure how much life it has left.... The Taco would get OEM, since it's half that age....

Will have to check the NAPA store.....

 

Last time I changed out spark plug wires was on one of the Escapes. We used NAPA replacement parts for that one; I can't recall at all what we paid for that set. They were good quality and we never had an issue with them.

Camry will be fine with NAPA wires. Used them plenty of times.

Napa gold filters in the jeep Rob. Have worked fine for me forever.
ONLY OEM IN TACOMA. With the check valve and design I'll stick with them.

I don't like K & N anything.
Well I do when I can get a hour worth of labor out of a oil soaked mas sensor.
I see them once in a while and it is handy. AS LONG AS YOU PUT THEM ON BY HAND AND NOT THE NUT.
I've had to chisel filters off because of those things.
Yea put that half inch ratchet and extension on that puppy. Lol

 

Please, if you don't mind Mike, tell me more about the check valve ... is that an issue for my 2.7, and what is my risk with the NAPA Gold?

EDIT: And always install oil filters by hand then 1/4 to 1/2 past that to snug. Does that check?

Same here on the filters, I use OEM and have a bunch of them. I like the idea of the nut on the K&N for ease of removal, and I could really tighten it up with an impact!

I usually torque the K&N down to 120 ft lbs.

The nut is for ease of removal.

The check valve keeps oil in the filter. On the v6 it keeps the filter full. 4cyl not an issue as it's not upside down. Napa gold is my other choice but not for V6
As far as tightness goes. I can't see when I'm installing. I tighten as much as I can with one hand.
Of course my great physical abilities and vice like grip I have to be careful I don't crush the can on install.. Tee hee

Know the feeling, by the time I finally get all the spring projects done it's fall and time to start on the fall projects! Never ending!
The 17' StarCraft hasn't been on the water in 2 yrs. Siphoned the fuel out of it this yr., and put fresh fuel in it with stabilizer and SeaFoam. Gas still seemed OK and am using it in the LM.
Maybe should take it out for a spin and see if the impellor for the water pump is still intact, also should replace tires on the trailer.

Thanks Mike, that's what I was wondering on my 4 cyl with regards to the check valve. And I'm pretty sure we're saying the same thing on oil filter tightness ... sometimes the typed words don't exactly match the thought. Thank you.

The Jeep looks fantastic, Mike!!! My Tacoma is a 2004 and still has some shine to her, too. And, only 34000 miles on the clock. Your picture also reminds me it is time to pull my '96 Z3 out and give her some TLC, too.

 

Home in the USA! After living overseas for the last 10+ years, we are finally home to stay in Kansas. My son picked us up in my new TRDPRO Inferno. We could see it from the jet as we landed! Man have things changed! I love the Taco! Locked up on a dirt road you can darn near get a four wheel drift going. I wanted the six speed, but settled for the auto. Frankly, after driving the Defender in city traffic for the last 8 years, it is a pleasant change.
