Cool deal. I'm unsure what I'll do after my FR-S lease is up. A Taco is on my radar because I miss my 4Runner something awful and having a truck would be nice for my bicycles and camping/off-roading.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Its Official vs market fishing before main event (I guess testing how bad its going to be).
I am pretty sure once nobody can order 2015, Toyota will post official specs on their website, until than they seem to test waters.
Hence I wrote patience they coming very soon....
T Released truck On Jan 12, to the thunder of laughs, Next couple of interviews Chef Eng seemed to know a lot of posts on forums... His last interview was interesting he actually addressed some of the crap from Tacomaworld :D "Power of social media. ?"
    On the side note:
I wonder how many people remember release of 2005 2Gen. Toyota came out right on Day1 with Engine specs, and capacities. At that time 2gen had most towing capacity in its class and that was plastered all over the place. Not to mention 1GR was giving 2gen most power torque in its class, not to mention 6500LB towing capacity was well above 5000b everybody else had.
Toyota had all numbers right there .....
    This time... its different.
I can not wait for Official posted numbers, you can only imagine the whiling of fanboys here.

The 1GR was a known quantity when the gen 2 taco was released because it was already in the 4Runner. SMH.

I will never understand the negativity on this guy. When the 2nd Gen Tacoma was released the 1GR was already offered in the 4runner hence why they did not take so much time for engine specs. This engine is brand new and it is still being worked on. All the posts that I read from you about the new truck are negative, simple if you don't like it don't buy it and get something else but please quit bitching and making negative comments on something that is not even released yet!

I do love straight sixes. Not compact enough for modern applications. Super smooth and a lot of low end torque. I believe the last straight six produced for car/truck was about three years ago, BMW being the last to do so.

One can never have too many light bars.
BMW engineers say they make and test V6's all the time but they can never match let alone exceed the smoothness and power curves that their inline 6's produce. I know the smoothness is attributed to the cylinders 1 and 6, 2 and 5 and 3 and 4 reaching top dead center at the same time which cancels out any vibrations. Sadly in the days of the engine style fits all these just aren't cost effective.

    Whole lotta stuff
I like the 1GR and so far this new 3.5L Otto-Akinson, but inline sixes are such a solid platform for power. Mark IV Supra, prime example.

Yes, it is always sad when the bean-counters trump the engineers and we end up with a less desirable product.

Straight 6 engines won't fit well in modern vehicles. They do pull extremely well but IMHO if you were going to throw a straight 6 in a truck you may as well go to a V8 since you'll get about the same power out of it in a shorter, easier to fit in the truck, package. That's why straight 6's died in everything but performance vehicles. They just weren't any better than a V8 that could fit in a smaller hole. Straight 6's do run smoother though than a V6 so they still do exist in some performance vehicles.

As the fanboy vs hater arguements I'm done with that shit. It's silly. Guys like BlueT will continue to rant and rave about the lack of quality of the new Toyota products and how shitty the new truck is because every stat on the spec sheet didn't double, including the cylinder count. Anytime someone disagrees prepare to be verbally assaulted for the next 4-6 weeks.

This weekend I went out and did several challenging trails with a bunch of 07-13 Tacoma's and 4Runners. We came across a few jeeps and a nice Land Cruiser, but guess how many Colorado's. Zero. I wonder why? This new engine will be fine if it can pull the Tacoma around the trail OK and gain a few MPG for the people who keep four tires on the pavement. It's as simple as that.

PS - I pin stripped the shit outta my truck on a narrow 30 degree plus decent with brush cover at less than mirror length, so I'll be hanging onto this 2013 for a while.

Since you mentioned my Name :D....
There are some pretty butt-hurt fanboys here.
Now even more butthurt when they are finding out 2016 will have less towing capacity and less power than Colorado.:boink:
Nobody is looking for double of everything but some normal specs would be nice.

Give it time Colorado will be as popular as Tacoma on trails. Colorado will not kill Tacoma no worries. Whats going to kill Tacoma is Honda Ridgeline. :amen:
There are people who will not buy Colorado no matter how great it is, but those same people will switch to Honda if they produce decent pickup.
    And Ridgeline is coming....

I don't agree with you most of the time but this one time I agree :D

BTW Hyundai is also coming out with a pickup too called Santa Cruz (not that pretty but interesting idea). The concept showed diesel powered 2.0L 190hp 300ft-lbs with claims of high 30s highway mileages. Looks a lot smaller then our Tacomas that's for sure. I'm just enjoying all of the new competition for the Tacoma

Last, Mercedes Benz is mulling the idea of a rebadged Frontier for themselves too! Picture a Frontier with leather and $15K+ price tag

Personally I couldn't give a shit if the Colorado can tow an extra 200 Pounds. I also couldn't care less if the Colorado turns out to have a few extra HP. Those 2 factors don't make the Colorado a better truck.

I'm pretty sure the santa cruze was just a concept. I don think there was any talk about it (or anything like it from hyundai) every going into production anytime soon.

I don't know if I could go to a Honda. There new stuff is wicked expensive and the look of their vehicles has never impressed me. I would see myself in the Colorado over the new Ridgeline. Heck, I'm still holding out the Ranger will return.

As for the Santa Cruz, keep an eye out for the Ram 700 in a few years in the USA . It's basically a subcompact with a box, like a mini UTE. Not good for offroading or towing, but great for some young guy who wants the truck look to stick his surf boards on.

Irregardless, neither fanboy nor hater knows exactly what the new engine specs will be. 200 lbs towing isn't a big deal, I don't think anyone is going to turn away over that. I doubt the new engine will have spec's that much better or worse than GM. Where Toyota could really win is if their new engine actually gets good mpg, because the GM 3.6 has been disappointing in that department.
