Thoughts on 2004 Superduty Dana 60? I understand they're not the most desirable. But that's about as much as I know about them. Is it worth it if it's free?

2004? One of the best axles for a sas IMO. The newer 05+ are better, but rarer. If that's free take that shit.

The manufacture date on the axle was 2004. Not sure what year it is actually out of.

Got a photo of it? Most likely that date is the actual 04. 99-04 all the same, pretty good axles.

Hell yea, I paid $600 for mine. There a decent axle, building mine with 35sp outers, high steer and 6x5.5 unit bearings. I'm not concerned about replacing ball joints every couple years, cheaper then a kp axle

You defiantly do not want that one. Just drop that useless thing at my house and I'll take care of it lol.

In all seriousness the 99-04 Ford Dana 60s are probaly easiest and best. The 05+ Super Dana 60 is the strongest but the driver side has a huge ass radius arm mount cast in that needs to be hacked off.

The KP axle is outdated IMO...

Just look at these SD axles

If it's still there tomorrow when I get there I'll grab it. If not, I can probably find another one. Working at a car recycling yard has its perks

Measure the pinion nut to make sure that it is in fact a 60 and not a 50. I can't remember the pinion nut sizes, but Google can tell you.

Even if it is a Dana 50, if it's free, take it.

It says 248 on the sticker which is the code for Dana 60 if my research is right.
