Interesting. It's a good point of difference that he should market to help draw buyers. Although I personally never heard anyone complain about taking those brackets off but again, I haven't had the stock plate on for about 7 years.

I loved that hike. We crossed over to Evans via the sawtooth (a bit sketchy but FUN) and when we got to the top of Evans, after summiting 2 14ers, the people that had driven to the top of Evans looked at us like we were mutants or something. They asked "where did you come from?" And we pointed to the summit of bierstadt and told them we crossed the 'tooth and they were then convinced we were mutants.

I think he should fab a spacer kit with spacers and longer hardware for people who need the braces but don't have them. It sounds like he had enough of each that he could make the kits easily and sell them when needed.

Or... make another version that mounts to where the braces mounted.
He has two versions of his tcase crossmember. One for those with an exhaust re-route and one for those without. That fact allowed me to buy his skids without having my exhaust rerouted. It also means that I'll go back to him when I do get my exhaust rerouted and want to improve my breakover angle.

I understand his decision to make a skid that didn't require removal of the braces in light of the fact that he has customers who are scared to remove things that look "structural" on their truck. It allows him to sell them a skid plate when he might otherwise not have been able to. A different skid, that gave a little better clearance could be made and sold to his "non-mall-crawler" customers who would value the extra clearance and realize that the braces really do nothing more than hold the stock grass bender.
A second skid would probably go further to cater to those customers than a "worthless brace" replacement kit.

Eric that sounds like a plan. Now that we have RCI'S business strategy figured out let's go sell it to him and take 10% :D

When I was helping Leo install his skids, I pulled those brackets before even looking at the skids or the instructions. Poor design IMO that hurts important clearance on the front. Although on you 2nd gens, you never get away from that low crossmember that seems to grab rocks.

What part did he cut off? I see the factory crossmember in the pic.

He cut off some brackets that the crossmember attached to and welded the factory crossmember directly to the frame I believe.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
Ya I have talked to him a few times about the skid, and he has such a big mall crawler customer base that he stuck with them. Eric and I talk to him some at RT about some of his other skids and he was thinking about some changes.

This is our new go-to drink as well. It's SO delicious. Fuzzy's in Fort Collins has a drink that's their Beam & Coke (think of a Coke Slurpee w/Beam) plus a bottle of this turned upside down and some Bailey's Irish cream that they call their Fuzzy's float. It tastes like a rootbeer float and is incredible. Highly advise.

Also, for some reason I haven't got any notifications of activity to this thread since my last post on Friday... several pages ago. Pretty sure the new forum software just hates me.

No, I'm talking about email notifications. They enabled instant emails a week or two ago and things had been running flawlessly until Friday. I got an email and posted to the thread and hadn't got anything again. I realized several days had gone by and I hadn't got any so I came back, caught up and posted again and just got an email for your post so it appears to have been a hiccup on the forum side. Hopefully it's resolved.
