    Fuck'em.

UAW staffed company. It'll be bought out and production restarted. Hopefully this time without the UAW monkey on their back

They need to get the hell out of Connecticut. Follow Beretta's move and head to a state that doesn't hate them.

They need to design new guns is what they need. Colts biggest problem IMO has been the fact the have stuck to the same exact guns for years while all the other manufacturers have branched out. Making an AR with a few variations, a couple models of 1911s and some revolvers is t enough anymore. (I know they make more but those are what come to mind when I hear colt). Plus the fact they don't really have any entry level priced products has hurt too. All their guns seem to be 800+. I rarely see their guns in lgs's too (other than the ar)

Hopefully they get some new backers, move manufacturing somewhere else, and start designing some new guns.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
Mine is chambered in the lowly .22lr. Limited run of 500. Threaded bbl, shares mags with my 10/22 and thus far seems to be quite accurate.

A buddy just grabbed one of the American Ranch rifles in 5.56. Nice rifle. It has yet to be field tested.

Very envious of deer hunting with a rifle. 20" ultra slugger in .20ga is my deer "rifle".

Sounds like Springfield.. Same old guns for ages with the exception of the XD...except SA isn't filling bankruptcy, then again SA is a smaller company.

Cold did designed new guns. It failed miserably, and they had to file chapter 11 from it. I think it also has something to do with their lost of army contract. And possibly the AR market is so big with other options/competition it's hard to sell a plain plastic hand guard rifle for 800 when for the same amount you can get something will all the bells and whistles. Not saying it's the same quality as a Colt but a lot of people out there just want the tactical look without the price.

I think Colt should keep it simple, drop the fancy shit that nobody wants.

Curious if anything will happen to the Marine's 1911.

Colt will be fine as long as this gets the UAW off of their backs. I'm sure half of their problems are union related. Losing the military contracts probably didn't help either

Colt has relied on being Colt way longer than the market allowed.

    Wish they would:

    1. Sell AR's the same way BCM does.

    2. Sell 1911's the same way Bill Wilson does.

    3. Bring back the Python and the Detective Special. Diamondback, too.

    4. I was going to say "get rid of all the .380ACP stuff," but that's probably a substantial portion of their market.

    5. Maybe open up a new company for Peacemakers?

    Good luck, Colt.

    Colt: 1911s, ARs, SAAs.

All of which are also produced by other manufacturers, largely with higher quality and lower price than Colt.

That's up for discussion, especially with Colt's current price points...LE6920's, for example. Not to mention 1911's.

I suspect FN and .mil contracts has a lot more to do with this bankruptcy than anything else. I love my SAA but as others have stated...the civilian market needs to be expanded and improved

Well, Bushmaster started doing this years ago (like back in the 90's), but BCM really took the "buy a carbine built the way you want it" to the next level. Colt's OEM models...well, it was a step in the right direction, but really too little, too late.

BCM recently came out with a 1911, too. Nice gun. Waaayyyy pricey, but nice gun nonetheless.

Yup. Colt lost the .gov contract and started pumping out civilian ARs....but that was just before the big boom of ARs so they might have had a head start on it, but they priced themselves out of the market. The only people who bought colts bought them for the pony on the mag well because thats what the military used. But now, the military isn't using Colt ARs...they have FNs, who just so happened to recently put out a civilian line.

Lets face it, the average person who wants a NICE AR is going with a prebuilt rifle from PWS, DD, or BCM. If they want a something a little cheaper, they can still get a BCM. If they want to save money, they'll buy complete lowers and uppers and just pin them together.

FN got a recent contract, but there are thousands of Colt M4 Carbines throughout DOD. And they're not going anywhere, as most of them are getting the -A1 rebuild.

Now, when these guns wear out pretty soon thanks to the Army going to (essentially) a proof round (M855A1) instead of going with the proven Mk318 load the USMC uses, expect to see quite a few more FN carbines.

    With that being said

I'm glad FN is churning out .mil, LEO, and civilian stuff and getting contracts etc etc

It puts money into my local economy
