Ive posted very little here and lurked as much as possible. Im a Chevy guy since i was 16 (i know i know...) and looking to pick up a Tacoma i found at a local dealership here in Dallas for a new daily driver. Its a 2013 TRD edition with 23,xxx miles on it, 2wd and lifted on 18's (not my style, more of a low and fast guy but i like the truck) and appears to be all stock with the exception of an aftermarket K&N air intake....

What are some tips or trick or certain issues i should search for when going to test drive this truck tonight? Are there certain options or items i should be aware of or look for that are known to have issues? Ive seen some suspension threads on here mention leaf packs etc. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to posting more and learning a lot about these trucks.

2013 no none issues like past years ( rust, leafs etc).

Are you going to offroad, beach, trails , etc, then I would get a 4X4.

You going to haul or tow, then get the tow package.

    You want a 5ft or 6ft bed?

    I didnt know they made TRD's with 2W .

Also, the type of lift makes a big difference.

How far is your commute, because you will be getting 15-18 mpgs with the taco.

You are a low and fast guy. Well get ready to be a high and slow guy if you buy a tacoma.

You will become an off road guy now.... But the truck man! It may not be fast but it is reliable as can be and easily modifiable.

Another question, this has the back up camera in the rear view mirror, is there a way to have it come up on the headunit?

It is in the rear view mirror and it is actually nice to have it there since you can check the mirror and camera simultaneously

I don't have any plans to really change it as of now. I do a lot of driving for my job picking up parts, so a lifted truck didn't really fit in my "economical" plan for a daily, but I like all the accessories on it and figured suspension and whatnot can be worked on later.

As far as the 2wd vs 4wd, I don't really ever go off-road and the 2 days a year it ices over just gives me a chance to stay home with the kiddo instead of taking a chance on the roads around here haha!

Yea. they make Prerunners in TRD Sport and TRD OR. I have the OR model, comes with the rear locker just like the 4x4 model would.

Higher than I'm willing to pay. It's been on their lot for 47 days (I have a buddy on the inside with some info) so I know they're trying to move it and unless another friend finds something for me at the auction, this will be the one I get at a fair deal.

As far as "adding accessories" into the price. They've already tried that game through email correspondence with me.

By the way I really appreciate y'all's info and help. If it were a Chevy with a LS then I would know what to look for, this is a whole brand new ballgame for me. I don't know which are good transmissions and which years are better than others like I do GM products.

    Passenger seat vibrations.....

Drive on rough surface with NO one (and nothing) on the front passenger seat and watch for vibrations. Good luck.
