3 relays for Offroad lights???

    As I was drawing it up I now see that I am pretty sure I would only need a single relay, maybe two if the relays cant push enough for the lights, but that isn't the case here

    I wonder if he read something I saw once about putting a relay for each headlight to supposedly make them a little brighter and thought it would be a good idea on these to do that (Believe it was something about voltage loss in the write up)? Are the relays for the lights themselves in the engine compartment alongside the relay for the switch? I'm sure it can be done with one relay of the appropriate amperage draw. That are what 100 watt lights?

    I was simply asking if it was in fact overkill, or if the three relays were needed for some reason. Because it is overkill, when I get my fuse panel in I will clean the wiring up so I don't have 3 relays, and 3 wires with fuses coming off the battery, and use two of these relays somewhere else.

    All three relays are in the engine compartment right next to each other. Even if there was issues with voltage loss and split the 4 lights onto 2 relays, there is still an extra relay for that setup.



    I am not trying to create confusion or insult the previous owner or anyone here, I was simply trying to understand why three relays were used, and if it is needed.

    Best guess is he wired up one set of lights with a relay, then a second set of lights with a relay at a later time, then he added the tertiary relay because... well, I don't know why.

    It's definately overkill. Even if the lights had such a large draw that you could only run two lights per relay... the very first relay is more or less useless here. You could have just ran wire direct from the switch to the two relays.

    That being said provided the total amperage is not higher than a single relay rating then you could tidy it up and just have one relay doing all of the work.

    Thanks for verifying that. I was super confused until I drew up the wiring diagram. As soon as I had it drawn out neatly (VERY unlike the actual wiring) it all made way more sense

    So I removed the first redundant relay, everything works as normal, but now when I press the switch to turn the fogs off, I get some weird feedback from my speakers??? What the hell

    It's only doing it when my radio head unit is powered up and there is power to the speakers. It's like an audible 'thump' that is definitely coming from the tweeters
