Title says it all. Right now I have a 2011 Access Cab that I’d like to sell to get out from under the loan on it. I’ve had a 1st gen Tacoma before – ’96 I4, Manual – it was a great truck. Gave it to my son as a graduation present many moons ago.

So now that that’s out of the way, I came across this 2001 Tacoma DC TRD 4x4 –

    http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/5029022235.html

I know all about the reliability of Toyota's – have had a couple of 1st gen Tundras and 2nd gen 4Runner but have never bought a truck with the mileage this one has (150K). From the pics and listing, it looks like it’s been taken care of.

Know in the end, it’ll be my decision but if you were looking, would it be in your top 5? Thanks

just from looking it's nice and priced good for the mileage. definitely check out everything.

first: it's not a TRD, no locker button and the graphics are the wrong (TRD Sport? what? uh...no)

second: unless they plasti-dipped the upper front bumper filler is black, should be color-matched like everything else

third: the grill and lights are chrome, they should be color-matched as it's not a limited (aka maybe front end damage at one point)

all-in-all if everything checks out (Carfax and paperwork) it's a good SR5 DoubleCab 4x4.

I can tell you this, double cab 4x4s are getting harder and harder to find. It took me about 6 months to find mine. For the mileage it is priced good. I was lucky enough to find one with 86k miles but I definitely payed for the low mileage. If you can get the vin I can run an auto check for you. Good luck with your decision.

Been awhile since I posted a reply but I never did heard back from the guy so have kept searching.

I came across this one - 2001 DC 4WD with 112600 miles on it. He started out asking $14,500 but he's come down to $13,460.

    http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/5037931478.html

Since it's been on CL for almost a month, I'm thinking $11,000 - $11,500 offer on it.

honestly if there is no rust you better make that offer or it's going to be gone fast. It's worth at least 13.5 on the open market. I would buy that in a second if I could. :)

Good luck with your offer but I highly doubt he will accept it. It will probably go soon for $13.5 if it hasn't already. These truck sell quick for a lot of money. Good luck with your search

Weird thing happened on that truck. I made an offer and thought we had a deal but some guy offered him more so he took it and I wasn't about to get into a bidding war. Search continues and now have come across this one - it's a 2003, 141K miles, with Cap and new tires but the hood has some hail damage. I have a friend who has looked at it and other than the hail damage on the hood, he says it's in good condition (and I trust him). Would "slight" (as the seller says) hail damage be a big concern if you were looking? I'd probably replace it if I end up buying it. BTW, appreciate the comments so far from you guys.

Happened to me a couple times when I was searching for my Tacoma. Same as you I refused to pay more. Once I saw a good deal I moved as fast as possible.
