Warns are great. But for as often as I've whiched...so has been about..1-2 times a year. My xrc8 has been just fine.

My xrc8 was just fine too...until it wasn't. Then I was up shit creek with a garbage chinese winch. It kinda sucks to spend a lot of money on nice equipment that you won't use very much, but when you do need it, you want to be able to depend on it.

I know this is an ambiguous question, but I'm switching from the original 13x600 coils to 14x650lb and not sure where to set them at after the swap for 3" up front. Can anyone give me an idea how much preload I should have to reach 3" on my Fox coilovers with a 3/16" skid and ARB up front? This is for a 3rd gen 4runner (same as 1st gen Taco).

I've had no issues with my older version XCR10. What went wrong with yours?

If the new versions are anything like the old ones however, before I ever installed it, I would pull it apart and repack the gears with some good grease, and use some RTV to seal it up. Solenoids also seem to be a weak point on them, I've got mine setup with extended wires and mounted under the hood so it isn't as exposed to the elements. I bought it used, and have used it myself at least 50 times over the past couple years without issue.

There wasn't a lot of information out about the XRC's when I bought mine, so I didn't know to re-grease, seal, re-wire, etc. when I installed it (not that you should need to do that to a brand new product). I'm not sure any of that would have saved it though - the first thing that happened was the cable anchor stripped completely out of the drum (they use a non-hardened machine screw as an anchor, instead of a wedge anchor). This was despite leaving an entire layer of tight wraps on the drum. I managed to jury-rig that back together, then the clutch grenaded on the next pull. That one I'll blame on the grease.

The whole situation left a sour taste in my mouth, so I fell off the other side of the horse and bought a Warn Zeon 10-s. At slightly over 3x the price, it's 10x the winch.

Guys, I humbly request your opinions. Give my video a watch (I know, it's like 10mins) and tell me if you think this is headgasket or if I'm just an over observant idiot. Some information is that my burp tank is always low, the truck sometimes misfires after being off for a bit, and the truck sometimes gets a bit warm (around 197-206), but never overheats. The heat core always sounds like it is "flowing/bubbling". That said... here's the vid.

That sucks. While I haven't used my XRC8 a whole bunch, it's worked fine so far.

No where near where they used to be, I'd try like an inch of threads showing. Don't think there's an exact measurement to be sure you're at the right height

Thanks for the response, I found a 4runner member who has pretty much the same set up and coils, so I'll be using his as a starting point. I hate having to adjust and readjust these coilovers on the truck.

I'd rather pay 3x less, and have to monkey with a few things. Then again I'm broke, and would probably have a Warn or something nice if I could afford it.

So I'm going to replace valve cover gaskets/plenium/TB/etc, Does anyone know the part numbers for the semi circles? I've found the cam plugs, 1118862010, but no semi circles. Is it that I just use rtv?[/QUOTE]

    Anyone?

I am pretty sure you re-use the semi circle cam plugs. I did....just rtv'd them when I did my gaskets a few months ago
