Should I remove my flares?

Thinking of removing my flares. Not really sure if I like how thick they are and the way they look. I have seen a couple of Tacomas with their flares off, and I kind of like the clean look. Those were mainly on off-road trucks and pre runners, and I don't do any of that really; mine's a daily commuter. So, opinions? I know I should do what I want to do because it's MY truck, but I really don't know what I want. Just looking for some opinions and different points of view. Thanks guys!

 

Also, is the removal a hard process?

 

Why not just paint them?

Im not sure if there are holes left after removal on certain flared fenders.

They will sell quick as shit though.

 

True, I could do that. Also, the holes aren't really an issue for me, I'd be okay with them. I think. Knowing my luck I'll do it and then hate the way it looks

 

post a trade + cash for base model bedsides and fenders is an option too.

I've had my front flares off for years now. Easy to take them off, I just went out to the Dunes at Glamis and the front flares pretty much came off themselves hit'n some whoops pretty hard I'd say if you like the look and don't mind some holes in the body from where the clips were, then go for it! It's really personal preference. Here's a few picture's without fender flares.

 

Looks unfinished and tacky with the holes and missing fender flares on the front only though.

All or nothing I think would look best.

Yea, but im not too concerned about it. Just figured the pictures would be a good comparison for the OP for the look of with and without flares. My plan is to cut the fenders anyway and run 35's. Haven't got that far yet.

Has anyone ever replaced the fenders with those of the 5-luggers? No holes.

 

If your state has safety inspections, removing the flares might cause the truck to fail inspection, because the tires now protrude a good amount outside the fender. Again it depends on jurisdiction and level of enforcement.

 

I just did my today, I think I will keep it this wayi filled them with new plastic clips, round on's? Hope this helps ya decide

How hard is it to remove the factory clips? I've been thinking about this - filling the holes with plastic push-ins. I've been driving around for awhile with one flare missing and the blue and orange clips on display.

 

I wasn't sure if I liked the look or not, but yours look great!! Now I am tempted.

 

you can fill the holes after you remove them. thats what i did
