Does anyone know of a dealer willing to negotiate? Or even answer inquiries? I'm trying to buy a 2015 DCSB 4x4 TRD OR and if the dealer answers at all, they seem horrified I present a much lower price than they have and am looking to get a similar price locally. I'm in the RDU area and the dealers just don't seem to want to sell anything.

 

I bought mine in Winston Salem. They budged less than I had anticipated but I also bought used where their margins are lower. They kept trying to tell me they would be able to budge more if I bought a new one. I thought to myself, no sheeeet!

That said, I bought a new '13 Prius from Fred Anderson on Glenwood and they haggled with me but eventually gave in to exactly what I wanted. Roughly $3k off sticker plus they added a sunroof, window tint, and a small hitch(for a bike). I did use a corporate discount(I work at Cisco), but I'm confident they would've gotten that low without it had I got up and walked...

You could try waiting a little longer until the '16 hits the lot and I bet you could steal a '15 if they wanted them gone...

 

Can someone confirm if I get a 21mm wheel socket I'll be able to get my lug nuts off and use the spacers? I'll go get one tomorrow at advance auto parts. I assume they would sell it? I still don't understand why it would work vs. my 21mm (apparent spark plug) socket I already have...

 

Take one lug off go to Lowes in your Prius, and match it up with there sockets. Easy way to confirm. There sockets are decent

 

Ha - if I go to Lowes, I always drive the Taco!

But - in your suggestion lays the problem... I don't have a socket big enough to take off the lug nut!! What I need is for someone in the store to let me take some sockets out to my truck and see what fits and then go back in and pay for that..

Edit: unless you mean to use the wrench in my spare tire kit. I guess that's an option...My main concern is if I'm going to be able to use the spacers or not. Seems weird that I have a stock taco with non standard lug nuts...

Parts stores will work with you and let you take tools out if you ask. They have rental sets they'll let you use too.

 

You have a stock Taco with TRD sport rims. I'm not sure why 21mm with work on your lugs, but your tire iron from your spare kit works... so you don't have nonstandard lugs.
what's the big deal with not using the tire iron that came with the truck, or going to lowes or autozone or northern tool or something and getting a crossbar?

 

If I take one off with the tire iron I can't torque it back on without a fitting socket. I guess if I find one at the store, no big deal - but if not I don't want to be worrying about my wheel shooting off at some point...

 

Stop fussing about and go to a parts store. Tell them you need a wheel socket and want to test fit it. Your concern is legit, a little far fetched but never skimp on safety. I see you already have a Torque wrench!

 

Ha - you should meet my wife...far fetched is the norm. If it could happen..it will happen

and I'm not fussing! Just stewing before I get the chance to go to the store. That said, I'm heading out now, post gym sesh, to get what I need.

Before you know it you'll need a rolling tool chest!

 

And a huge grin on your face when you need to do something and you have the tools.

 

I took a nut off with my tire iron before I left and it fit on the spacer bolt. I guess that's promising that I will be able to get this to work once I have adequate tools...

 

Done. Little over 3 hours. First hour was a waste as I used it learning how to use the Jack. Good thing I didn't have to learn that while being stranded somewhere with a flat. I need to invest in a hydrolic one. I'm going to give it a couple hours to let the antiseize dry before I move it. I'll do a big loop and take it on the highway and get it up around 60 to see if I feel any vibes. Hopefully everything it smooth sailing.

Anyway...here it is before and after...sun moved on me so the pic from the front is hard to see on the after. Looks great though...

 

What size socket did you end up with?

 

21mm - just bought a different one then what I had. It ended up being too thick to fit into the holes for the spacer so I had to use the one I already had for that and swap back and forth when I went to put the wheels on. Weird...but they are on!
