    Well, I screwed up...

Little background first, I bought the truck Feb 14th and I've washed it twice... With quality microfiber mitts and towels, separate wash and rinse buckets, and good car wash. I take pride in what I do and I have never noticed any scratches or swirls after I finish.

I had a free "Preferred Wash" coupon at the local Diamond Auto Spa that expired today. Figured I'd take off a little early from work and have the truck washed by someone else for a change... :anonymous:

Their "Preferred Wash" entailed running it through a non-touchless wash machine and then drying with towels that have probably been used all day long.

Truck came out and I immediately noticed swirls all over the front bumper. Started looking a little closer while they were drying it and noticed some light horizontal scratches across the tailgate... Scratches that weren't there last Sunday when I washed it by hand!!!

Talked to the "manager" who swore up and down that his machines couldn't make those types of swirls and scratches. He offered to wash it by hand and polish the tailgate and bumper at a later date. I left still pretty pissed but at least they were trying...

I get home and inspect the truck a little more and notice swirls all over the hood and roof. And two light rings around my driver's side FJ TT wheels. The rings are light scratches around the edge of the wheel. I assume from their conveyor tract rail system.

I want to call in the morning and raise hell. We take our work fleet up there and everybody I've talked to has nothing but good things to say about this place.

Would it be wrong to ask for them to pay for a detail? I would want it done somewhere else, as I wouldn't trust them compounding and polishing my truck!

Any advice??? Besides not trusting anyone else to wash my ride!

Thanks guys... Just needed to vent a little!

ouch man....you could have them pay for a detail. but if i were you id find a legit detail shop to quote you, and see if the company will pay that amount or atleast half.

and a tip...never use a "free" coupon for car washes. they tend to be from companies who do exactly what you don't want done to your vehicle.

You Never, ever, ever , should take you vehicle to a car wash :smack:. Do not ask them for anything else, and dont let them fix it. Find a realiable detailer or fix it your self.

Yup... Lesson learned the hard way! I may still try to get them to cover the cost of a reliable detailer to fix it.
