Hate front license plates, always have. I think it ruins the look of just about any vehicle. That being said, I've got to mount mine here soon after I pay the $500+ bucks to register my truck.

I've had a few tickets in the past for not having one (I'm stupid and stubborn), so I'm looking for a unique/different way to mount on the stock bumper. Pics appreciated

The ricers around me throw it on the dash. Have seen dudes with it behind the grill ( believe they can still get a ticket so not sure why they do it!).

Don't do the dash thing, CO law says it must be affixed to the front. Not only will they still ticket you with it on the dash, you don't want a thin piece of loose metal flying around the cab in the event of accident. That said, I ran without a plate on my old S4 for almost 5 years and never had an issue. Just don't park at meters donwtown or Boulder and it should be no problem. I do run it on the truck since the holes were already drilled and holder in place but if they weren't there I'd run without on it too.

edit: expect more like $700+ for registration, mine was $737. I'm in CO as well

I bought a one of the flat plastic mounting plates at Auto Zone and drilled holes in it to run wire ties through. I used the big ones for HVAC flex ducts. I mounted it to the lower grill opening by running the ties through and pulling tight. I did not like using the mounting tabs on the Nfab light bar. It seemed like the plate would be just flapping in the wind if I did. The only pic I have is with the plate still on the bumper.

My dealer delivered the vehicle to me with the dealer plate screwed hap-hazard to the front bumper with some sort of self tapping screws. Was not happy but I got over it. It's like my hair cut... what do I care what it looks like, I don't have to look at it.

This is a true no-drill front license plate mount designed for the Tacoma. Will not scratch the paint and simple to install. Beautifully engineered. We've had ours for almost a year and are very happy with this purchase.

I'm stubborn also.....got my dealer to do the "Don't Drill the Front Bumper" mod so no holes...if I get tagged I'll most likely do the slybrackets one. My Tundra is an 02 and I've never been tagged for no front plate, hopefully the same will happen with the Taco. One of the advantages to living in the sticks.

Any chance of a picture of that? OE parts? In Fl we don't have front plates (or inspections) so I've never seen the hardware. I was curious how it 'properly' was supposed to mount from the factory.

I bet 2016 has a proper bracket - I still can't get my head around Toyota for that.

Wow. How cheezy on Toyota's part. Thanks for the confirmation though!

I mean I have the dimples in mine, but thought there would be some bracket that mounted there first for the plate to go to.

And it impacts airflow over the condenser/radiator as well............ That's too bad.

Also with the sly you can move it anywhere along that opening. I'm a center kinda guy but you can take it to the left if you're feeling hip.

And I'll mention the friendliness and speed of delivery from Hawaii. Mr Sly wrote me personally many times regarding shipping and any questions I had.
