Nice. My internship is going great also. Lots of challenges and I've already used a lot of what I learned in Dynamics, FEA/CAE, and strengths of material. Last week I helped design 150 Ton spreader bar and had to set up a full analysis of it with design factor of 2. Hopefully it will be built within a few weeks and I can watch the Pull test to get it certified.

Working for NOV. My boss does specially projects to assist manufacturing and to cut costs by not contracting everything out. For example, a heavy lift company is charging $12,000 to lift and flip a 120 ton product every week. So my boss looks for existing material and retired equipment that the company own and engineers up a solution to lift and flip the product with out the contractor.
The spreader bar is a lifting device with lifting points on the top and bottom. Yes, design factor and safety factor are the same.

They design and produce thousands of products for the oil and gas industry. The part of the company that I am working for designs and manufactures Blowout Preventers for drilling rigs. There's hundreds of engineers in my building just for this product line.

yea I forgot to flip the picture,it wouldn't sit the right side up.i might need to replace those 150,000 mile bilsteins and stock springs on the front too.that bumper is quite a bit heavier than stock.

just bought a JerryCan from HarborFreight.......I have to say, this thing looks legit. I thought that it would be some terrible copoy of one but no. It feels very solid/sturdy. The paint job looks great........and the can was on sale, but I forgot my coupons. The sale price was $34 but it cost me $38.............beats paying $65+ for another kind.
