Drum brakes. I didn't mind them until I offroaded my lifted '95 Nissan SE-V6 4x4 truck in northern Wisconsin. Mud/water got into them at deep water crossings we went thru and eventually clogged, scarred and corroded the inside of the drums. That caused my rear brakes to bind during normal on-road driving. Multiple disassemblies for cleaning didn't really fix the issue. A real PITA. My 2003 Jeep Rubicon with all discs never have such issue despite many deep water/mud crossings.

Hopefully Toyota designed the 2016 rear drums with large drain holes that allow mud/water to expeditiously drain with no clogging.

Fords need a fully boxed frame, they get pulled on and off the wrecker truck so much it bends the frame.

Most of the light and medium duty wreckers around here are Fords. It is the GM frames that bend, right behind the cab, upwards for boom type and downwards for flatbeds. While the Dodges have a great Cummins, their trannies don't hold up.

I drove a 15 Colorado today and it felt like it was made in Mexico. It was completely plastic on the inside and it had a short wind screen but it did have a fully boxed frame, sooooo

The floor space under the steering wheel was so small. My feet felt cramped

I'm always amused at the great lengths the Toyota fanboys will go to defend all the shortcomings of the Tacoma (rear drums, non boxed frame). Why is it so hard to admit other trucks have better features than the Tacoma?

The world you looking for is bedazzle.
If you notice a lot of those fan boys ... :
    1. Dont own Tacoma or even a Toyota.
    2. Joined this forum after unveiling a 2016 failure, when Toyota did see all the forums and blogs simply laugh.
    3. Lots of them seem to work for Toyota or Contractor of Toyota.

It looks like Toyota must have send internal memo to employees and contractors to join this forum and defend latest creation.

    Now watch roaches scatter.

All the new accounts actually had me wondering as they popped up out of no where. I couldn't care less about
them, just had me wondering. My intention is to buy the 2016 when available.

Those are not features. They are methods to achieve features. If you can demonstrate that other midsize trucks have much better braking or that tacoma frames are snapping left and right, then we'll talk.

Let's suppose you are right that toyota unveiled a 2016 failure (you aren't). The 2016 Tacoma will do record numbers regardless of whatever shortcomings you see. That Tacoma will continue to dominate the segment. We both know this.

I am one of those new accounts. I've been lurking here for many years. Like most people I'd guess, the imminent arrival of the redesign (and the absolute fucking retards whining about it) are why I actually created an account. It's not shocking that there is an influx in users when there is a redesign.

It's already been demonstrated. The 2015 Colorado is heavier yet stops much quicker and it becomes a big factor when loaded up. In numerous tests the Frontier beats the 2nd gen too.

But who needs to stop quick when loaded or when towing a trailer with no brakes anyway?

I think disc brakes are coming, at least for the higher end Tacoma's with tow packages, if not the whole range.

Remember, we have only seen pre-production trucks and the real ones might be different.

You know what I really don't get? Why the word fanboy is used for liking the Tacoma on a Tacoma website....

At this point I can't wait for the 2016 to come out so that all the "fanboys" and "haters" can actually argue based off some real world performance rather than a tiny bit of knowledge with a lot of dick swinging.

Oh Snap ... Deja vu If it makes you feel any better I complained about the same car like crap on Honda Ridgeline forum and....

pretty much I got exact same response just replace Tacoma with Ridgeline. That was back in 2006 when I was looking at Ridgeline or Tacoma.
    :D
That reminds me I need to track that guy that wrote this back then and see if he still thinks Ridgeline will do fine.

Ridgeline was not a class leader before 2006 though...

The Ridgeline did do fine. I don't think Honda ever thought it would lead the segment. The just wanted a piece of the pie to support the development costs of the Pilot.

The Ridgeline did lead the midsize trucks in payload capacity.
