Love hearing the secondaries open on mine. Just a Rochester 600 Performer, but you can really hear it when they kick in (because in the 60's, sound insulation was for cars, apparently)

When I was a kid one of my uncles had a '70 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 340 Six Pack in it. When he floored it, the 2nd 2bbl opened up, then it dropped a gear, and then the 3rd 2bbl opened up. The engine note at full throttle was amazing (what you could hear of it over the exhaust--headers into glasspacks dumping out in front of the rear wheels)

Had a 64 Goat 389 Tri-Power. Know that sound well. Had the old M-21 "knuckle buster" too.

My Nova is like riding in an uninsulated beer can. Noise, lumpy cam shakes and incredible heat coming thru the floors from the headers. At least they had vent windows back then, lol.

Back at work again. Seems like I just left, oh fuck I did. Another overnight, then my regular shift with overtime at the end.

SAS=$$$$$$$$! I could get a nicely set up truggy locked/lifted and plenty of rubber underneath for a fraction of the cash it would take to do the '11 over. I know you're not raw about AW cuz that stuff comes with our territory--but I also empathisize with the first permanent mark on the baby

The oem bumper I cracked up the winter of '11-'12 was the first mark :burnrubber:

If you don't mind some wrench time building up an old taco or 4runner could be a lot of fun. In hindsight I never should've sold my 95, it would've been perfect. Maybe the craigslist gods will be generous and drop the perfect trail rig in your lap?

I'm hoping--then I'll have something extra capable and a rescue rig(?)

You won't need a rescue rig, I'll bounce off some rocks and trees to give you a pull. Or vice versa?

    Billy,

No worries, that's ideal. I'm still waiting for the tool to show up from John anywho. It should be here tonight but that gives a buffer time. I need to grab the axle nut socket anyways. Gives me Friday to get stuff done at my Moms and maybe hit the driving range. One day I'll get rid of my 45 degree slice and be able to clear the women's tees off the men's tees on the course.

Double edit. Gonna get the axle nut kit from HF because why not, good to have for the future. It's only $33.99 after tax/coupon.

Man, you're not kidding. I really need to pick up some heat wrap for mine. The other day the GF and I took the Sweptline to a show across town, and while we were sitting in traffic she says "my feet are really hot"
It's not bad if you're moving because the air flow pulls away a lot of the heat, but man...sitting still in traffic will give you a wicked case of swamp foot.

I didn't realize that there was an 'elevator season' Bill. Good luck, and be careful!

I'm just ordered it from ECGS and overnightwd it. I don't have time tomorrow to grab it unfortunately and billy is nice enough to help me do the work so I don't want to ask him to get the pieces.

Thanks anyways. I do get that life is crazy and can get in the way.
