A friend parked his old Yota truck at his work parking lot and a White male started cutting his Catalytic Converter while his female accomplice was the designated get away driver. They were driving a U-Haul truck. The crooks' mission was interrupted so they took off and this is the result.
    Opps_zps1nro4e2r_da9364feb6c62756e2d44302c019a887380b9303.jpgOpps1_zpsagjlqpt1_b221c63c21ee4e10433e8d40e9319170f702da9b.jpg

Would this type of anti-thief product deter such desperate crooks?

I guess that came across in a questioning way...I meant it in agreement. I would I have done everything in my power to get a hand on him!

Hers a little info for you. In some cases they can fetch $250 from a recycler. For a minutes worth of work a meth head can get a few hours fix. One of the park and ride lots in the Seattle area got hit and every SUV, Truck and a thing that was easy to slide under was hit. My buddies truck got hit and in all 34 vehicles in total. You do the math. http://www.sacrt.com/documents/catalytic.pdf

Amazing how common this is. It's always crack/meth heads. The scrap yards or recyclers are every bit as guilty as the dirt bags that cut them off. They don't question a crack head that rolls in with 20 cats in the back of their shitty ass truck??

We have items stolen all the time from work. Items no normal person would ever have. The scrap dealers buy them all the time.

We have a lot of power cables stolen, One item in particular cost us 25 dollars a foot and we buy it in 1000' spools. It is freaking heavy too probably 5" in diameter. They cut the fence, roll in, start unspooling it, cutting it up and loading it in the bed of a truck, drive off, take it home, strip the insulation off, take the cooper to the recycler. The recycling yard takes down the plate number and name of the person turning it in(required by law here). We have cameras. We call the police with a plate number and a description of the vehicle. The cops track down where it went, arrest them, they go to court, get a slap on the wrist, and we are still out 25,000 dollars worth of cable. Happens a few times a year. Sometimes we get stuff back, sometimes we don't.
