What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Lol derp I was looking at the 12k when I saw the 7/16. Just checked, seems like all the 9's & 9.5's are 3/8.

 

Changed the oil and took about an 1/8" of slack out of the throttle cable

Put new coils on today. I have rake again. Looks awesome still rides awesome.

No, Have not had the time yet. Want to get it off the floor. Maybe I will figure it out this weekend!

 

Putting the new platform with drawer to use for a weekend of diving. I still need to do some tweeking to it and build the other drawer.

No way that winch weighs in at 100# with synthetic line. That sounds a little high even for wire rope. My X2O 10K weighed in about 60# with a synthetic rope.

 

Bought a Real nice 1st gen 2k about three weeks ago. I feel like what I did a few days ago can fit into this category. Went to change the center bearing on the truck, and found out the nut holding on the flange past the bearing got JB welded on at some point in life....well wasn't this a surprise to see after the nut was heated, distorted, and the threads on the shaft were gone and mangled....not to mention this intermediate shaft is pretty hard to find and impossible locally.

 

YES. USE A POWER WASHER WITH THE STRONGEST JET AND GET RIGHT UNDER THE PLUG BOOTS. PROLLY SOME CORROSION YOU NEED TO BLAST OUT.

Try this... Park it in the garage, roll down the door, open the hood with the engine running and turn out the lights so its very dark. Pitch black would be best.

Do an inspection of your plug wires. You are looking for electrical leaks around the wires and the coil packs. If its bad, there will be a bit of a light show. Arcing will be a blue color.

 

Oh. Oh, I see. Uh. Well, instead of just looking at them, you could pull the wires and let them dry or blast them with electrical contact cleaner. Or go to bed and try again tomorrow.

My 5 lug had a misfire that didn't throw a code when water got onto the spark plugs and drowned the wire, all I did was pull the plug wire and blow compressed air into the opening to dry it out.
