I agree. I love the Tacoma and will still get one, but I think they really dropped the ball on exterior styling. Someone once said on this forum it's like a giant bee stung the front end of the 2015 model and now the 2016 is swollen and inflamed.
In some images it looks good with a good paint job and higher off the ground however.

Bone stock other than new floor mats.
What kind of issues did you have with the Canyon? They looked sharp when I saw them at an auto show earlier this year.

Other then the nose, which I don't care too much since aftermarket support and DIY mods will fix itself. Everything else I like, especially the interior and dash layout

The interior is a home run. Few people have any gripes with that. Best-looking interior in a truck IMO.

Yeah, I would have to cut most of it off, and slap a plate bumper on there to hide that face only a mother can love. The new engine better have gawd damn good numbers...

    ...or.

Looks like the photo was taken with a lens - fisheye? Looks distorted compared to others of the 2016.

    It does.

I did find an angle where the grill looks somewhat decent.

They hit a homerun with the interior.

Damn shame something needs done to hide the front...where-as the out going model looks fine stock.

Even though I run a plate-bumper for practical reasons...I don't necessarily like the looks of them either, like stock under the radar.

Oh well...bitchin' about it isn't going to change it...

^ true. complaining will not change it for 2016.
The way I look at it. While driving one cannot see the front grill. Inside is what is important .
Beside, I don't find the outside looks all that bad.

Made this username just to comment on this topic. Hey everyone!!

I've been eyeing up the '16s as well and being so close to when ordering may close out on the '15s without knowing what the final engine specs are on the new 3.5L I'm leaning very hard on just picking up a '15. Just left the dealership about a half an hour ago to talk to them and they don't have any more info than what is on here on the '16s so I started to work up an order on a '15.

Without knowing final production specs on the 2016 taco, I think the sound choice to make if you're waffling between the two - the choice I think I'm going to make - is to just get a 2015; tried and true platform on the final year run. I know first model year issues aren't as big a thing that they used to be, but honestly, I see no over-arching benefit in ordering a 2016 and paying more for the first year of a new production, than buying a 2015 and even if I only hold on to it for about 5 years, then trade in for a 2016 hopefully they work out whatever kinks, if any, are in the 3.5L powerplant.

That's my two cents, and if anyone can convince me to hold out for a 2016 instead, please do so, because my one hesitation would be fear of buyers remorse once they start rolling onto the streets.

I think you answered your own question with your last sentence - Buyers Remorse - if you can wait 90 days you should have all the answers to your questions and then you can decide to either go 2016 or 2015 with all the information in front of you so you can make an informed decision.

    Just my 2 cents.

Silver is so nice looking, and even if they throw on the chrome grill I think it will look great with silver paint. Kinda sad though that their base model gets the better looking grill (?!)

I bought a 15...If I like the 16s better what can it cost? $5000 to step up? I won't have 2k on my truck when the 16s are out.

Dude, it don't matter, 15 or 16, you can't go wrong, you can't kill a toyota so either way you can't go wrong.. I have a 2.7L double cab prerunner, sure it doesn't have the balls like a v6 or a v8 tundra but at the end of the day, I know it will get me to point a to point b and won't let me down, I love it and I'll drive it until the wheels fall off and then I'll buy the next gen tacomas.

I needed a new truck after 8 years of misery with my 2004 Dodge Ram. Loved the truck, hated the repair bill. i virtually replaced everything but the body, windows and some of the interior. I jumped all over a Tacoma after getting a deal - on a lease. I too was chomping at the bit for a new one, knowing the 2016 was just around the corner. But I wanted to drive the 4.0 for awhile. And knowing that you get great value on the vehicle - the ONLY vehicle that can actually fetch as much or more than its original value within two or three years of purchase, I'm not going to lose out on trading up (actually reselling to the dealer - therein lies the madness) to a newer one at the end of the lease.

I agree that Toyota rarely gives us incentives, but with the New GM products in the midsize arena, the incentives may come in volleys because other players like Hyundai and VW are moving in as well.

So at the end of three years, I sell my truck to the dealer I bought it from for a newer Tacoma, with sunroof, hopefully a much more adjustable seat, dual exhaust (wishful thinking), 10 or more speaker sound system - including a more powerful stereo, and a much more powerful engine that gets way better fuel economy.

All in all, I get to "play" with this truck until Toyota hones the next gen a little bit. I consider my situation ideal. I have a new truck that is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else where quality is concerned, and it's quite capable as it sits as purchased, compared to everyone else too. So it doesn't have 300 plus horsepower... I don't want to just spin the tires and look pretty, I want to get there from here in CONFIDENCE. Can't do that in a Ford, a Chevy or a Dodge. Been there, done that. I've owned all three of those brands. They're all proverbial hunks of shit. I'll never own one again. Ever.

So if you feel groggy, just leap. You won't regret owning a 2015. Maybe do a lease option. Or wait to get the 2016. Just don't buy a Ford, Dodge or Chevy.

Wanted to wait for a 16. My 2012 MGM dcsb 4.0 is really good ride. While stopped at my dealer to bs with the gm about the 2016 a transport pulled in with three 2015 dcsb off roads. Asked him why buy a 2015 with the new 2016 coming in September. He said you will get an amazing deal on the 2015 and don't be surprised if the 2016 goes for sticker +.
So I challenged him to show me this amazing deal and damn! There I was cleaning out the glove box and handing over the keys on my 2012. Swapped the tag over and slid behind the wheel of a new ( 2 miles on her) Pyrite Mica TRD offroad wondering how the hell I was going to explain this to my wife.
