Any pointers from any of you on good places to go wheeling and camping in the hill country? Looks like we are moving to the area soon-ish and I want to combine some fun into our home/property search.

Fuck yeah! Hidden falls is great. Your also have k2 (katemcy offroad park v2) canyons offroad and trees ranch in the area.
There's a Facebook group called GATOR (greater Austin toyota offroad) they go offroading often.

Wow, getting more excited about this move every minute. Really appreciate the tips. Does the Austin group use another format other than facebook?

A lot of them are/were on here also, but I haven't seen them in a long while. I don't frequent Facebook anymore, but when I did they were very active on there.
There are also a lot of beautiful places to camp and go tubing down the rivers in that area. Beautiful part of Texas for sure, I live in south Texas down by the beach so it's all flat and ugly (not as bad as Houston, jk Nathan)

The gator group isn't on TW. There are tons of groups though. Keep an eye on TW for meets and wheeling trips. You're moving into an area with a couple of great parks. There's also Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area in Gilmer Tx where the Lonestar Toyota Jamboree is held each year. We had nearly 300 Toyota trucks at Jambo this year.

I can literally ride my quad there, at least to Cow Creek. What goes on at this Turkey Bend Rec area?

Good looking out folks. Heading back down near the end of July to look at some places and look forward to spending some time in at least one or two of your recommended sites.

Just to follow up, I really do appreciate all of the tips. Will be heading back down near the end of July to look at a few places and hope to be able to take advantage of your advice while I'm there.
