Hey there. . .I'm new to the forum and possibly, soon to be a new Tacoma owner. I've never even owned a truck before, and I just need a little guidance.

After doing some research, I've made up my mind I want a Tacoma. I'm well aware that 2016s are coming out soon, revamped and all. I was going to wait for one of those, but then. . .

I spotted a new 2015 Tacoma, white, double-cab, 4x2, Prerunner SR5 4.0 V6 at the local dealership. It was knocked down a couple grand more than comparable Tacomas, possibly because "it had been on the lot a while," as the salesman explained.

To the point, out the door, with the $2k off and a military rebate, I can take it home for $29 total. Which to me, sounded like a heck of a deal. In your experiences, is this something I need to jump on, or is this about what everyone else is paying for a similar model?

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

That does sound like a good deal. Any Tacoma under $30,000 is a pretty great deal. Just be sure you are ok with the SR5, the TRD models come with some really nice upgrades, especially the seats. On a personal note, I would never buy a truck without 4x4, but that is from my personal experiences.

Best of luck with your decision and enjoy your Tacoma when you get one.

That is a decent price for that truck.

However, what is more important is...is it the right truck for you? Consider ALL the options.

Do you want double cab? Or an access? Or a reg?

    Base package? SR5? TRD?

    I4 or V6?

    Automatic or manual?

Do you want a 5 lugger or 6?

    Long bed? Short bed?

If that's the truck you want, then it's a good price. But make sure it IS what you want. Buyer's remorse SUCKS especially on such a large purchase....but they're oh so shiney on the lot....

    LOL

Otherwise....welcome to the madhouse, and thank you kindly for your service, good sir

    Thank you.

I had already decided it needed to be a double cab and a v6. So those requirements are met. I'm not crazy about the white, but it isn't a deal breaker. Would love a TRD package but can't really justify the cost.

I know there are plenty of "2015...or wait for 2016" discussion threads. I've read them all and I'm still undecided. Quandary.

Lots of people get TRD 4x4's for not much over $30k. I'm not up to speed on 4x2 pricing, but that doesn't sound like anything to write home about especially when it's not your ideal color. When I bought my '14 TRD Sport 4x4 new, I think I paid about $30,500.

^ this Doesn't sound like a good deal for a 2x4. I think you could do better on a 2x4. Got my trd offroad doublecab 4x4 for $30,700 before tax and title.

This is 29k after taxes and title. Before, it's 26k and change.

If its not the ideal truck for you then pass!If it is,then the price does sound good. You may be able to negotiate a few hundred dollars or more off of that price just for personal satisfaction!

Paid $31k for my 2015 Tacoma White, Double-Cab, 4x4, SR5 4.0 V6 Long Bed. I have one of those "Best Price" dealers that pretends they don't negotiate.

Seems to me $29k should make sense for a 4x2? But my dealer only sells 4x4 models because... well... it's Montana.

Psshh.. okay this sounds like a good deal to me then. We don't pay taxes or title at dealers up here. How many miles on this truck? Been test driven a lot? Loaned out or demo'd?

It's been test driven a few times though. I left the lot with 20 or 21 miles on mine. :) So I imagine someone must have driven it at least once.

93 isn't bad though. At least it's not something someone "returned" because it had an issue or something.

it don't matter if a truck says 0 miles or 50k miles its somethings gonna happen itll happen. not realistically gonna happen to a truck with less miles but look around this forum and youll see a lot off guys having problems with newer trucks and far less miles than other.. you should look around and check what other years and packages offer the same or better features in other words. a fully loaded 2012 it much better than a base model 2015. look around and see if any used tacomas offer the same features as the one your trying to buy. and also remember in the long run plus interest the truck will cost you around 35k not 29k. and usually you can wiggle some dollars off if you know how to negotiate on used cars. just another perspective from a Used truck buyer like me.

$31,500 ish OTD tax, tags etc. watch the delivery etc fees, they use that to artificially raise the price back up. Beware of 2wd without a locker. I owned a gmc and it literally got stuck I a dog pissed on the rear tire. Btw my truck is a dcsb trd sport 4x4 in white with steps, and the sill protectors.. I made them keep the floor mats and bought weather techs through the last group buy.

Here's the link to help. Read with caution and turn on the bullshit filter when needed!

OP, it sounds like you're hesitant or you wouldn't be asking. Maybe sit tight a little longer and see if something else catches your eye. My feeling is that the deal presented to you isn't anything special but as others have said; if you think it's right, that's all that matters...

    Thank you.

I'm leaning toward waiting. Although the dealer has said the 2016s will be sold at MSRP. I believe him. . . .supply and demand.

Also I'm not a major off-roader or racer, but from what I'm understanding from you guys, the TRD package is worth the upgrade. I think if he offered me a 2015 WITH the TRD package, in the color I like, at THAT price, that would be impossible to pass up. But I have a feeling that ain't gonna happen. So I'll wait and save up more $$, until my Honda craps out.

Anyhow, thank you all for the feedback.

Dealer BS to get you to buy one now that has sat in inventory a while. The only way 16s will sell for MSRP is if fools pay it.
