I have a 97 taco with a 2.7
come to find out my exhaust manifold is cracked. I am thinking about ordering the pacesetter header for it instead of a stock one.

anyone have any experience on good aftermarket headers?

 

The Doug Thorley has a great reputation on the little Taco's. A little on the pricey side as most are.

holy crap.... all those other headers are expensive....

the pace setter was 170 shipped.

why should i stay away from them?

 

What kind of leak? Like the tubes split? Or the gaskets?

Also I have a friend that claims he took the manifold off an 02 taco with a 2.7 and says it fits perfect. And it's a nicer tubular. Any conformation on this?

 

I have an 00 with a cracked manifold...How easy is it to do yourself? I have 317K and already changed it once...think they may have put a used one on.

 

I have the LCE header, and I know it is very expensive but the build quality so far is excellent. x2 on the POS pace setter. I have the stock manifold setting here in my room collecting dust if anyone is interested, no crackes, has about 80k on it, never seen MUD. PM me if interested, but I would recomend the lce if the funds are there. BTW the North Western wont fit on an automatic in the floor. I guess clerance issues?

 

Ok did not know. just going by what the application chart said at the very bottom of there web site. Is the north western design any better than the lce header or are they prety much the same from a performance perspective?

 

I've heard lots of good rep about the LCE and am personally a fan. I replaced my broken manifold with an OEM manifold and couldn't be happier honestly. Does anyone know why the split the way they do. I looked at it and the stock manifold just looks really weak in that particular area. Then again there shouldn't be any flexion/tension on that area... one of the many mysteries of life.

 

Is there any welding involved with Exhaust manifold replacement? Or strictly bolt on?

 

I noticed that the lce did not give very much low end ( thats mainly what i wanted), but it does have a killer top end say from 40mph and above at WOT.
