The look of the Toyota Tacoma big grille and all is starting to grow on me, however the one thing I'm a little weary about is the push button start, I'd prefer the key and turn method, the push button is just another thing to break, anyone know if this is just a option????

I don't know if it is or not, but don't knock it till you try it.

I had it in a 2014 Rogue I was driving for awhile and I really liked it, basically, you never have to take the keys out of your pocket (if the Tacoma also comes with keyless entry as well).

I got use to it really fast and now miss it, one of the things I like about the new Tacoma.

I had the push button on my last vehicle, and one time they key "fab" ran out of battery. Luckily i was in town and just had to walk to Walgreens and replace it. Then and only then was i allowed access to my vehicle, let alone start it....my 2 cents

    Strange.
Didn't your Key "fab" have a key to unlock the doors?
Had the battery on the key go dead on our Jeep. Used the key to open the door. Pushed the start button and the jeep started. Same with a Dodge Ram (though it was not push start).

push button start is great option that you will really like. Most modern vehicles have had it for quite some time.
    Don't fear new technology!!!

Got it, I retract my statement then. I'll be the first to say I haven't the pictures a lick of attention!

Had it on a rental car and thought it was stupid, until I used it a few days and realized it was awesome. Strange at first, but then it becomes more convienient.

Had push button start on my 07 Lexus is250 and I loved it. The car would tell me when my key/remote battery was getting low, but of course I pushed it and got stuck in a parking lot.

On the Rogue if the Battery in the Fob died the manual said to hold the Fob right next to the Button to start, if that failed use the key in the Fob.

I thought there was some type of warning as well that the battery was getting low.

That is exactly why I liked it, never digging for the keys, it was awesome.

I love it and have been contemplating putting in an aftermarket one in my Tacoma. But then I worry about reliability compared to a factory install

You could break the key off in the ignition.

FOBs always have a hidden key in them. You may have to look carefully on how to get it.

The Corvettes have had push button start since 2005 and at the Chevy dealer I work at we've only replaced one switch. They seem to be very reliable and you don't need to worry about wearing out your lock cylinder or keys.

My key only had a transmission lock key hidden inside it. The doors literally had no key hole in them.

Do you "guys" carry a purse? Or a "murse" rather. My keys are in my pocket. Not much digging required. :boink:

Ha ha push button opens new possibilities for jokes.. Not to mention it makes life easier for car thieves. Instead of stealing your key now all they have to do is walk by you.
