Unknown , but since there are only two ratios, more likely is that 3.90 is going into 5 lug Tacomas, and since 4 Cyl and 6 Cyl will share automatic 4.30 is going in there.

Not official though. If you remember, Colorado was released with the wrong RPM gauge, I believe with the gauge used in the pre production models. Expect the tac to change at release.

That's discussed in the Sweers video interview & that link is tacked in a thread at the top of the forum. Look for it at around the 2:20min mark.

Sweers is talking about what's been changed in the rear end & he mentions stronger steel etc, & then mentions 4:30. I've listened to it a dozen times & I'm torn between thinking that he was saying it was either an option, or that he was saying they went to a 4:30 as an option in order to strenthen the package.

Over the past few weeks I'm believing more & more he meant they went to 4:30 in order to strengthen the package given the context of the discussion (a question was asked about going to a stronger rear end in the 3Gen & specifically they were talking TRD stuff at the time). Guess we'll find out in the next few months one way or another......

To me it makes sense they went to 4.30 like their other 6 speed trucks.
4.30 will make even 4 cylinder feel like rocket on stock wheels (30 inch or less) and with 6 speed transmission, on the Highway you still get decent mileage because how high 6th is.
One thing good is that if they did not put rear/front carrier from Highlander , 2gen trucks will have now 4.30 ratio gears cheaply available. Although people may want to stack up on 4.10s because those will be gone now after 30 years or so.

    Are you being serious?

The speedometer has absolutely nothing to do with top speed.

The 2G Tacoma has 268lb ft. Stop riding the 4Runner's coat tails.

Again, the only thing that 270hp proves is that it won't have the old Tacoma's torque at 5200RPM or higher. Anywhere below 5200RPM, the torque could be higher than the 2G Tacoma and peak HP could still be 270hp.

You nitwits act like there is a single RPM where the engine can make torque and it makes far far less anywhere else. It is a curve. Just wait and see, FFS.

    No one wants to wait.

The conversation just continues with a few more comments with plenty of the words: HP, torque, minivan, hater and fanboy.

    How helpful.
