About a month ago, I noticed a dent, about the size of a nickle, just a couple inches in front of the radio antenna, on the passenger side fender. The paint wasn't chipped, so I called up one of those "Paintless dent removal" places. I sent a picture of it to him and he told me he could pull it out. We set a time for him to come to my jobsite so he can do it. One of his employees show up that day and gets to work on it. When he is done, I go back out there. He informs me that when removing the dent, part of the clear sealer got damaged. That they would have to come back out and fix that. It was several small discolorations in the paint, near where the dent was. He told me the owner would call me sometime later that week.

Over a week later, I finally hear back from the owner. He tells me that he will check his schedule and let me know when he can make it. About a week after that, I notice on the video camera at work, that he is working on my truck. Never called to inform me that he is coming, either prior or that day. He gets done doing something and as he is leaving, he calls me to tell me that whatever it was he did, didn't fix it. He then tells me that they will have to repaint it. We schedule a time for one of his employees to come to my house that Friday. After work that day, I stop in at my buddie's shop. He does painting for a living. I wanted his thoughts. He said, it does need painting. He thinks that the dent was originally too sharp and that they never should have attempted to pull it out.

That Friday, when they were supposed to show up, they never appeared. Never called. It has been over a week now and I haven't heard back from the dent shop.

My question is, do I contact them to get them to fix it and possibly ruin it more? Do I have someone else repaint it and then try to get the shop to pay for it? Or do I just cut my loss and not worry with them?

I'm thinking of not dealing with them anymore(I never did pay them for their initial dent removal) and have my painter buddy repaint the fender. I know with him that it will get done propperly and will be a good quality paint.

The fender now has a large discolorazation on the fender, in that area. I notice it whenever I am on that side. I'll try and get a picture of it later.

I know I probably shouldn't have even worried about the dent in the first place, but since I'm paying so much for this truck, I want it to be nice.

Just curious did you sign anything before they touched your truck?

    I would continue to followup.

Did you pay via credit card? If so, dispute it in the meantime

Thats it, I haven't paid them.
I was originally going to pay cash for it, but because the first time, they screwed up, they have yet to ask me for the money.

I'm just not sure I'm wanting them to even touch my truck anymore. I'm afraid they will do more damage than they've already done.

I wouldn't let them touch it again. Take it somewhere else, ask the new shop for their opinion. That's what I would do.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Get your buddy to re clear it. What caused the dent broke the clear. As long as the dent is gone then the pdr guy did ok. Move forward or live in the past (like Liberals) In fact I'd go back and pay the pdr guy if he did a good job and thank him.

My crystal ball tells me they will not followup for the $$ as they know they f'd up. So with that, I would move on from them for sure. If dent is gone and your buddy can fix the clear, happy days.

I had taken it to my automotive painter friend, after the last time they messed with it. He said it does need to be painted. I may just have him do it. He does excellent work. He's painted cars that have been sold at Barrett Jackson as well as painted small aircraft. He uses only the best paint/products. The only thing, is he isn't cheap. He quoted me $400 for the fender.

Go to the auto parts store and buy a can of clear. Save $392 and learn to do it on your own.

aires 3D mats, scan gauge II, rear differential breather relocation, and bakflip G2 bed cover.
Cut a whole in the fender where the dent is and install a snorkel.
