Will a Maxtrac spindle lift really clear a 33" tire?

Hi I'm new to the forum and I have a question about the maxtrac 4" spindle kit/lift, I'll be running 285-70-17 BFG KO ATs. My truck is a 2006 Tacoma sport. I have been researching and everything I find seems to say it's a good kit but everyone seems to be running bilstien 5100 shocks with it and everyone has a different preference on what they should be set at. I ran that by the shop I bought the maxtrac kit from and he basically said that the maxtrac shocks that come in the kit will be fine. I'm not going off-road, my truck is for hauling toys and commuting. I just don't want rubbing. Are the bilstien shocks necessary?

Yup, you only really need 2.5" front lift to clear 285's. You can probably clear 35's with some trimming

Ok good, so why does everyone get the 5100s?

Its a good reliable shock that is adjustable, also for a good price.

What setting is that on those shocks to get the 2.5"? There are 4 grooves, is that the second to the top for that much lift? I have the stock springs, and 5100's, and want to get it to 2.5"

What are the setting heights? What is the best ride height to accommodate the 285's and still have a decent ride?

I believe they are 0", 0.85", 1.75", and 2.5". You likely wont clear 285's without at least 2.5", but like others said it will be a rougher ride.

Yup ^^. You won't clear 285's unless you trim a bit and have it set at 2.5. Honestly don't use stock coils to get that much lift, get some OME 885's to clear 285's and it'll ride a hell of a lot better

X2, OME or Eibachs will pair nicely with 5100's. Only costs a little bit more and you will be much happier with the ride.

Hey got another question. i really like the stance the 33x12.50 has over the 285-70-17. when i look at specs theres very little difference but when i look at pictures theres a huge difference. called my shop and asked them about it and they keep telling me to stay with the 285. what do you think?

You can run 33/12.5 just might need a spacer to clear the uca's.. @tacobell007 runs them and see if he can chime in..

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
A 33 12.50 is only about 1"-1 1/2" wider than a 285...I say go for the 12.50s and just trim if you have to.

Ok. My rims are going to be 17x9 with -12 offset. I'm pretty sure the one on the bottom has the same offset but the top looks like no offset
