Apparently, all the auto makers got together and decided to see how addicted to consumerism we are, and said," lets see who can make the ugliest truck, and still sell the most.". I am not sure that there is a good looking truck out, by any auto maker that can sell in the US.

Nice, when I lived in AZ...the club(s) I belonged puts on desert races and dual sports.

I have heard some complaints that the 4.0 doesn't pull very well with a popup camper (weight/wind resistance), have to slap on a super charger to cure it. At least that I have been reading on the camper forums.

Where as, it shouldn't be an issue for a diesel with 369 ft/lbs of torque, and get a little better mileage out of it to boot. Still haven't made up my mind, need to test drive the new Taco, and diesel Colorado back to back. Bummer is, no dealer will let you toss 1000 lbs in the bed to see how it handles. Perhaps the rental market will get them. Some carry fullsizes. If I am interested in a vehicle, I'll rent it for a weekend to see if I like it not. There was a time I thought I wanted a Suby Outback, seems liked a good idea, decent mileage, can drive it down dirt roads, can pull two dirt bikes, and a little gear...rented one for 2 weeks...could not wait to give that sucker back. Pickups just work better for me.

Ha! I have wondered the same thing. Like they have some bet going on.

And the even more circle jerks about how amazing the 16 will be or is or statements that make no sense or are silly from people with member number 150k+ with no previous taco experience or knowledge.

I am fairly new to the forum...joined last December to keep up with the '16...have owned Toyotas for 25 years now. I know a thing or two about Yotas... :D...doesn't matter when a person joined or what their post count is.

I am sure the '16 will be fine...typical Toyota fashion...they make minor conservative tweaks to an already proven design. Yeah, the design is a love it or hate...but what can you do?

Toyota being a conservative company is both good and bad, on one hand they know their flaws and seem to address them, yet on the other aren't willing to take leap technology-wise at least in their trucks. Kinda strange because they took a leap with the hybrids, and now pushing hydrogen. I would like to see a diesel hybrid Tacoma...

They are kinda like Honda...motorcycles put Honda on the map...now they mostly abandoned them...hell, they are still selling aircooled dirtbikes, yet won't build a decent 2-Stroke Enduro...

With Toyota, the trucks is what put them on the map, feels like they really don't cared about them anymore.

Kinda reminds me of the bet Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee made back in the heyday mid 80's in Motley Crue - who could go the longest without taking a bath and bang the most groupies. I think they both made it over a month lol.

Agreed. Unfortunately you will find several of the senior, more post happy members will disagree with you based on that fact alone.

Talk about hideous body lines on a truck??? Look at the Tacoma Short Bed on any 05-16 models. The big line running from the front fender to the rear doesn't run flush with the bed of the truck…it just abruptly stops. It bugs me everyday I look at my short bed Tacoma truck. They did a very poor job with the aesthetics on the Tacoma Shortbed and continue to make the same screwup.

This honestly looks way better than the 16' Tacoma.

The 2016 Ford Raptor looks amazing, so yes, there is a truck in America which looks great and will sell like hotcakes.

The 2016 Raptor looks like a total brodozer. I'd be embarrassed to drive something that showy. The grille is the worst part.

I never did like the wheel arch treatment on the 05-15 models...and that huge fenderflare makes it even worse, reminds me of those huge Bushwacker flares.

I like the 1st Gen wheel arches much better, they are more subtle...maybe why I like the Colorado better, it is a a more subdued design (they fucked up the Canyon though, Ha!)

They did get the wheel arches right on the '16, the rest of the truck looks like they were drunk at the drafting table and pieced it together.
