Probably the one that pulls the tent walls in so you can fold it up.

Here's some more details....was on the way out the door more or less.

The wood is 2x6 and is 6' long. That gave me enough length to screw into the rafters (correct term? 2x4s in the attic). 6' let me tie into three often and I used either 2.5 or 3" screws (can't remember now lol).

I used 9 pulleys total. 4 per a side and then one to route the rope "down" against the back wall. You will need 4 of the....double pulleys... Basically a pulley with two wheels instead of one. Those mount to the wood.

I also used like 10 of the eyelet screw things. 5 to secure pulleys (the top ones), then a couple just to direct the rope a bit.

I have a hand winch mount to my back wall. I'm not totally happy with it but it works for lifting and raising it. The winch itself works fine just haven't found a method of mounting to leave me 100% with it.

I also have a small backup setup on the rope. Just a prussik on each rope that is secured to the eyelet screw. So if the winch fails the prussiks will tighten and hold the rope. It's a climbing thing so you might have to Google it.

Just remember to mount the winch as far away as you can. I don't know the exact numbers but it takes pulling like 4' of rope to lift it 1'. With my setup I have to lift in two stages. Stage 1 gets it off the truck and about a foot up. Then I have to secure the prussiks and let the winch off to tie new knots of pulling. The second knot let's me raise it to where you see. Also is a bit of a backup as the knot won't fit through the pulley lol.

Honestly you could get away without even using a winch. I pulled my tent up by hand a few times and it's easy. Mine only weights maybe 120 pounds total and with the pulleys it feels like lifting a lot less. I've actually though of doing that myself since I won't be raising and lowering the tent that often and I can just tie it off to those "boat tie offs".

It's pretty cheap to do. The pulleys by far were the most expensive part. Think I spent around 50 bucks on them. Rope was like 10 bucks. Then the wood, eyelet screws, and small caribeeners were like 15 bucks more.

Here's my setup - harbor freight winch, push a button and up it goes! You'll notice that I modded that top plate thing so that it sits nicely against the bottom chord of the truss. Obviously I wrap the straps nicely too so they don't catch on anything

No hiking unfortunately - was too windy and polleny. I didn't want to aggravate my allergies too much so I did most of my exploring over the weekend in the safety of Runner

Ascenders are a bit to expensive for the rtt setup for me :) well for me at least lol. Forgot you were a guide :) plus I only have one. I only mountain climb so just prefer prussiks right now

The winch is nice for me since I can put some tension on it so when I undo my Thule rack it doesn't just set right back down. Bit of tension and it lifts off the locking bars. But it would be doable.

Oops was thinking of dangerdave lol.

And yeah I'd definitely use ascenders if I was doing rope work. For me if I had to use one then there's a bigger problem....like someone being in a crevice lol. In which case a prussik works perfect in a z pulley setup

Hey everyone who is following this thread, I wanted to put a little information out there that many of you may not be aware of. With the hot summer months ahead many of you are looking at ways to keep your tents cool and comfortable.
    .
The Tepui Weather Hood is a great way to beat the heat. If you've seen these before you are probably aware that they are a good way to help keep your tents warm in the winter. But did you know that the aluminized coating on the weather hood will also reflect heat away from the tent in the summer time? These Weather Hoods can be a great addition to your summer adventure and can help keep you comfortable on that dream camping trip you've spent so much time planning. Check them out on the Tepui website here : http://tepuitents.com/collections/amenities/products/protective-weather-hoods

How does this effect moisture build up? What about ventilation?

There are matching upper wall vents to the ones on the tent walls. Moisture buildup is dependent on a lot of different factors. In some situations these may generate more condensation, in others probably no difference. But stay tuned, Tepui has another new product coming soon that could be a nice addition in this area.

Yup ive watched Touching the Void quite a few times. Kind of funny, its never a movie ive talked about with climbing partners or while on the trail lol.

I love all those sort of shows and movies. Beyond Everest was a pretty interesting one too.

Its one of the few DVD's i bought full price haha.

Im always amazed watching/reading about the pioneers. I more was into ski mountaineering and seeing the gear Glen plake, Andrew McLean, Shane McConkey, Doug Coombs, ect were using is amazing. They literally were inventing the gear i use today. I have pretty much every ski movie from the 90's till now.

Ill have to check that book out. Into Thin Air is a pretty interesting read too. Sort of bring the "commercialization" of climbing into view.
