Well need to get some of that done too. Last night was the start of my interior rebuilding process. I got a new (to me) rug yesterday. Truck only had 50K on it and the rug was in very good shape. So since I knew that I was going to have to replace the rug, last winter I had bought the sound deadening kit from RAAMaudio. So yesterday after work and after mowing the lawn. I started taking my back seats out and installing the mat and foam. I followed Mr Marv's advise and only put the mat in as strips and then foam to cover the hole back wall. I'll post some pic's in a minute.

Thanks Rob, I saw that one awhile back before I started really looking, unfortunately the post was deleted, at least that's what the link tells me.

Well since the rest of it is not done yet PLUS the rug is not in it, then no not yet. Tap test has big improvements though. Hoping it works well. Man these trucks come apart so easily.

I always wanted to do the roof in my Tacoma. But I never got around to it

I thought I read somewhere it was much more beneficial to do the doors/rear of the cab, then the floor before the roof

I don't understand this. Maybe it's because my other trucks are over 30 years old, but I don't notice a lot of noise in my Tacoma. It's definitely the quietest truck I've ever owned. Much quieter than my '99, for sure. The gf and I can have conversations on the highway without raising our voices, wind noise seems minimal to me, and even the tire noise from my Duratracs is pretty quiet.

It's not an overly loud truck in my opinion but definitely not even close to the quietest I've owned either. I've seen a lot of people sound deaden the cab because it makes the radio sound a lot better, no more background noise. I did want to deaden the roof also when I had my Tacoma, in the rain that damn thing was loud!

    Hm.
Like I said, maybe it's because my other trucks are over 30 years old. The '84 has aggressive tires and very little sound insulation, and a noisy noisy slant six motor. And the '69 has a noisy v-8 hooked up to some nice noisy headers & dual exhausts. Add in the 46 year old weather sealing and there's a lot of wind noise thrown into the mix too, haha!

My Tacoma is a veritable Bentley by comparison.

It's very loud in the rain sounds like you're in a tin can .

Well Noel I kind of agree with you, it wasn't necessary but seeing how I'm having to rip the interior apart again to put the rug in it. It's kind of like those "why not" upgrades. It's not too much to make it even better than it already was. Duratrac's are loud now that they are wearing down now though. Hoping this kill's even more of the road noise.
Seth I heard the same thing. Doors, back wall, floor then headliner.

    Yes.
Just don't like the idea of "fixing" that.

lol. You haven't heard 'tin can' until you've been in an '84 W150 in a pouring rain storm. NO sound insulation in the roof.

    :rain:

I see. That's different, then. I thought you were ripping the whole interior apart just to sound insulate, lol. I was like :der:

Thats okay, I appreciate the help. The Nittos are a great off road tire lots of bite to them on road their good on dry surfaces and not so much on wet. In snow they did better than expected, but if they had more sipping they'd probably be a better rival to the STT max.
I've heard that Nitto just came out with an in between tire like the toyo RT and STT Max. I may look to those next time around.
