    Yea, it has D4-S.

I think it will return a torque curve that basically matches the 1GR it replaces from 4000 RPM and below with the added benefit of top end power. I think most Tacoma buyers are happy with the performance. The fuel economy is the disappointment of the current truck. Note when I talk about Tacoma buyers, I'm talking about the 80% that isn't on Tacoma world. You lot are that 20% that wants diesel 4 cylinders, diesel 6s, V8s, etc.

That's adorable coming from the guy who thinks Toyota will drop a V8 in the Tacoma in a couple years.

Hmm... maybe we will even get specs rated better than the 10 year-old Nissan Frontier:

    • Horsepower: 261 @ 5600
    • Torque: 281 @ 4000 4.0 L/24

Frontier was slow as constipated ass though because it shared it's frame with the Titan. Nissan is the last company anyone wants to be compared to for the last several years because their trucks have been so crappy reliability wise.

Frontier was to heavy too be useful with a near guarantee of the dreaded strawberry milkshake if you did any work on the coolant or transmission fluid. The Titan shared drive line components with it's far less powerful brother which lead to people blowing differentials in as little as 10K miles...

I really looked into the Frontier when I bought my Tacoma. I could of had a Pro4X for about the same price but the reliability and horror stories the few people I know who have had Frontiers and Titans scared me off. Every time I go to the gym I catch the owner making glances at my Tacoma parked next to his Frontier and I can tell he hates his truck.

I was always impressed with the Nissan's numbers but driving one was a huge disappointment

You can get a Frontier for about $4k less than a comparably equipped Tacoma. I think that extra money spent on a Tacoma is worth it.

The 2gr-FSE has a much better torque curve than the 4.0. Flatter, reaches 90% of peak torque at 2000rpm. The 2GR-FSE is actually a plateau moreso than a curve, also it stays flat after peak, unlike how the 4.0 steadily drops.

When Toyota releases the actual engine performance specs the no wake zone of unconfirmed speculation
will turn into the open waters of reality and that little shit box dingy that BlueD casts his bullshit from with its lifeless
trolling motor will be no match for the waves of reality that crash into its bow. BlueD and the S.S. Douchebag will
be lost forever or at least until the 4th gen is announced.

I just don't understand why he hangs out in this forum if he hates the new Tacoma so much. Part of him must really like it, he just won't admit it.

Ever since BlueT got 4G on his iPad he just can't get off the couch on his lawn and away from Tacomaworld.

That's a joke btw. I can neither confirm or deny that BlueT has a couch on his lawn.

I don't know too much about the Frontiers because unlike a Tacoma I haven't owned one. But I do know that a 6-speed Xterra we drove was slow as crap. Much slower than my 6-speed Tacoma was.

Bring back the D21 pickup. I could've bought a crew cab D21, should have jumped on it! I regret it!

Looking at a lot of dyno charts does show that the 3.5s have flatter torque curves....
But I think we are looking at less peak torque than the 4.0... 245-250 would be in line with current 3.5... That's why I was hoping for 300 hp to get 270 torque..... I also think Toyota will upgrade the line with basically this same engine....
but if it has 270 or more, with direct injection and better gearing, it will have much more usable power and a huge upgrade....

If its 300 hp & 270 or more F.P.T.. It will be good to go anything less. There will be a mad rush on the left over 015s..

Except for Honda's motor is not D4S, it's simply direction injection. That right there really limits what Honda can get out of it.
