I have a friend Tacoma shopping right now. He is looking at 1st. Gens. I have an 06 and haven't looked much at pre 05. Which was the best year for first gens.? He wants one with 4x4, extended cab, full bed, v6 or 4 cyl. Is up for disscusion but MPG is a big factor. Any opinions?

Agreed. Dad has an 02 and has had zero issues. I would try to get a manual as the auto feels sluggish IMO.

I love my 03 V6 3.4. It may not be the best on gas, but I think that the 4 cylinder is a bit anemic. :D

Door buzzer silenced forever thank God, tinted windows, vent visors, hood protector(bug guard), ceramic pads and new rotors, dechromed EVERYTHING. 2" Lift front 3" rear. Skyjacker AAL's and replacement leafs(and front spacers) from Fatbobsgarage.com. Skyjacker 7000 Hydro rear shocks, those Bilstein 5100 fronts are coming soon!
I like my 00 with the 2.7. great mileage, and enough power for me, as long as I have 4WD I am happy....

there were some differences in the 01-04 styles...cant remember them all off the top of my head

02 is typically (on online enthusiast forums) regarded as the single best year...however you cant go wrong with any of them
