Alright, so a couple buddies of mine are thinkin about around October of next year taking a cross country trip from Florida/Alabama area to Moab, Utah then Pismo Beach, Cali then of course back to the East coast. But my question is for you cali guys...since California is so anal on emmisions...what would I need to do (if anything) since im from Florida and im running a K&N cold air intake....as I know those aren't technically allowed in Cali. Would that be something id need to remove or something, I still have my stock intake so it wouldnt be too much of an issue...im just wondering since im unsure about how it works since i live on the opposite side of the US away from anality land lol. Thanks for the info in advanced! lookin forward to checkin out Pismo and hittin the dunes with my prerunner

This. Since when are CAIs, however worthless they are, not allowed in CA?

really? is it only certain places in Cali that they aren't allowed...cause I could have swore that the CAIs werent allowed to be installed due to emmisions, even on the K&N website it says "Not for sale in California"

    cool deal, thanks!

I don't know how it would really have an impact on emissions, do they actually do something?

way to be helpful dude, preciate it! you never know, with my truck being modified the way it is, makes it more the reason to pull over and check. because unlike a lot of people on here, I actually would like to make sure im not breaking any laws...as ive come really close here in Florida to getting in really big trouble from stupid shit on the ranges and speeding on base like a dumbass...so id like to stay out of trouble as much as I can

Sounds like you're planning on breaking more laws than just EPA / California emissions requirements.

Chris, you'll be fine. Since your car is registered in Florida, there will be no need to swap to your stock intake. Some CAIs are allowed in California, they just have to be approved by C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board) and you get a sticker that goes under your hood that shows your aftermarket product to be CARB compliant. That way, when you go for a smog check, you can pass a visual inspection for proper equipment. Unfortunately, most "performance upgrades" like long tube headers and true CAIs are not approved for our trucks. No sticker, no pass. Sucks, I know. That's what we get for living in CA.

how exactly, all im doing in Cali is hitting the Pismo dunes for a couple days? im asking a simple question since I dont live in a state that is so fucking anal on emissions on their vehicles and I dont know how the law works with out of state vehicles having modified parts that arent allowed for in state vehicles....simple question...all it requires is a yes or no answer...simple as that....no need to be troll about it

I might as well just not ask about anything anymore on this forum...just a simple question about emission regulations since I dont live in a state thats retarded about it and it gets berated. If you aren't contributing to the post, dont comment

The cops have better things to do most of the time. When I was catless I've had cops follow me for quite awhile and not do anything.
