What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

14" is the lowest we recommend going so you can still reach into the bed of your truck under the rack. We did take an order today for a rack that is 9" off the bed rail. You can order a rack at any height you would like. We have built racks as tall as 24" off the bed rail and as low as 9", just as of today.

We can send your rack pre-welded so you just have to bolt it on. It seems there is some confusion on the height of our rack. Our rack is built to your height specifications. We run ours at 16" so our tent is just a little bit above the cab. We have built racks as tall as 24" (for our Kayak friends) and as low as 14" (for our RTT friends). Thanks so much for that Tracy, I think I'll settle on something that puts the base of the tent under the roofline, but the top will be slightly above. like you said I want to keep some access to my bed as well as not block my rear view completely.

 

The Comeup Gen2 9.5 will be perfect for a Tacoma. I'm using the same one on my Land Cruiser that's much heavier.

Good choice. Night and day difference in quality compared to anything from Smittybuilt. There are other bigger ComeUp winches but I think they are overkill on a Tacoma and would be more difficult to fit in most Tacoma bumpers.

 

Adam, any idea on the line speed of the comeup winches? or how they compare to the Warn Xeons?

Here ya go. This is the linespeed chart for the Comeup Gen2 SEAL 9.5 It has a no load linespeed of 63.3 fpm (feet per minute) compared to 33.0 fpm for the Warn Zeon 10 Series. So almost twice as fast as a Warn Zeon.

Fucking awesome! think this just sold me on that winch... I mean I was sold on many other things... but it was down to the Warn Zeon or Comeup... Love Warn... but think Comeup is my next one (gonna be a while)

 

I was the same way. The more I got looking at the Comeup the more impressed I was. From everything I'm seeing they are equal if not better than comparable Warn winches. So many people just think that Warn is the only way to go and won't consider anything else.

Bottom line is reliability. A winch is something I would never skimp on (which is why I'd never buy a cheap winch) cuz I never want to wonder if the winch isn't going to work when I need it.

About the first gen Tundra brake upgrade.....Am I correct in that I should use the S13WL caliper instead of the 13WE? I believe the S13WL is 231mm as opposed to the WE's 199mm. Yes? I'd like to get this done before I leave for school in August. and I'm trying to get an exact list of all the parts I'll need.
