    I already have the plan lol, I'm gonna make a Y gate at the throttle so I can switch between snorkel and CAI. I'm still trying to source the airtime y gate as well as a solenoid to switch it on the fly.

    Because I'm supercharging, and i want the performance gain from the AFE intake sitting in my garage, but I also want to be able to switch to a snorkel for water crossings if I have to

    Interesting but still wondering what the net gain will be between the two, you'll have to post dyno sheets for us :thumbsup:

    There is a solid axle second gen on TW with a home made snorkel with glass fenders that is really nice work, he used a hole saw at the same angle as the intake tube coming down the pillar then opened it up just a bit more to allow for flex etc. If I can find it again I will shoot you his build...

    The point is so that I can run my CAI during normal performance , as I feel like a snorkel is just to far from the throttle body so any cold air gains are worthless at that point and I don't want to have air issues under full boost and I'm trying to make a sort of expedition vehicle so in case of water crossings I can switch over to snorkel

    Yea I've seen a couple guys who have run fiberglass and a snorkel, I'm not to worried about that basically just mount the snorkel up underneath the glass and like you said just run the snorkel up through the glass

    Some stick on chrome from pep boys
    I bought a Land Cruiser / FJ Cruiser pre cleaner to mount in between the snorkel and the factory intake.

    Notice the small round bulb on the bottom right of the pre cleaner. That is the sediment/dust discharge valve. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't work with Jeff's combo CAI arrangement but for others that are genuinely concerned with dust ingress it might be worth consideration.

    It really isn't, by the time the air gets all the way down to the engine, all the turns and length have negated and CAI gains. Plus, being supercharged, I've had it told to me like this "try breathing at the bottom of a pool with a 10 foot straw".

    It's more like trying to breath at the bottom of a pool with a 10ft length of laundry dryer ducting. You aren't restricting flow. Just redirecting it. While the bends add pressure drop, they are negligible. And being front facing, it probably helps to a degree by adding positive pressure on the line (ram air effect)

    I'm just not convinced a snorkel can out breath a CAI, you're adding like 5 feet of tubing and what, 3 bends or so? I have an AFE CAI sitting in my garage and one of these days I can hopefully pick up a Snorkel (if they ever come out in production :D) and then I'll start the R & D on it all and see about getting some custom aluminum tubing made up. Pretty sure I'd have to have new tubing run from throttle body t CAI box and then off the Y to the fender foe the snorkel.

    I would love to compare a snorkel to stock when it comes to Intake Air temps?
    Running my scanguage 2 for a while on my little 4cyl RC 4x4 I was amazed at how fast the intake temps rises when sitting still.
    I mean I knew it would some but didn't realize how fast it would. Also even on a warmer day and on the freeway you would think it would
    get cooler than it did.

    Maybe someday I'll have me a snorkel.

    Where'd you find this at and what does it cross reference too? I'd imagine they don't make one for the 2.7L.
