AT tires aren't necessarily the best choice for snow. Snow tires are. But if you're looking to now have to swap tires twice a year from everything I read the Goodyear duratracs are good for snow especially deep snow. I just got some Hankook dynapro atm's for my truck that are going on this fall. You may wanna look into Michelin LTX MS/2. Those are supposedly the best non snow snow tire and they last forever in all conditions. They don't have the aggressive look of an AT but they are just better.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Hearing the same thing with the ltx m/s 2 I like to have winter tires and summer tires and don't mind swapping. If I had to do just one set it would be the Michelin ltx.

I've been very impressed with the Firestone Destination A/T. It works great in all conditions, including snow. It has a somewhat aggressive tread pattern, but is very quiet on the highway and shows zero negative effects on gas mileage. Tire Rack usually has it ranked #2 right behind the more expensive Michelin LTX AT2. Which is also a great tire from what I hear, but I don't have any personal experience with it.

    this.

I had MS2's on my old truck and on the steep twisty mountian road to the local ski hill i would play "how far can i get in 2wd" on icy / snowy days. 9/10 times id make it without much slipping and all the way in 2wd.

You just cant go wrong with MS2's if most of your driving is road / mildish trails. I personally on the taco wanted a more aggressive look and went with Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10's and they have been GREAT on the the trails as well as the snow and ice.

Ive heard good things about duratracs in the snow. The sidewall is too thin for my needs but might be a good fit for you

aah having been on ltx ms for years and now use ltx at, I will say AT2's do better in snow by a smidge. specially crusty corn snow hub deep...at2's pull through it a fair bit better

the real answer is have michelin snow tires put on Dec 15th and leave them until April 15th

My General Grabber AT2's did pretty well this past winter. They are snow rated and studdable.

That's a great tire, but the op wants an all terrain, which would be the LTX A/T2.

LTX MS2 = great in light snow and ice but are less aggressive tread.
LTX AT2 = great in deeper snow but not as good as MS2 on ice and more aggressive tread.
JMO as I had them for a number of Alberta winters with lots of snow, ice and below/minus freezing temps.

My feeling exactly on the tires. I have NEVER experienced another "standard" non dedicated snow/ice tire that grips as good on icy conditions like the MS2.
