Has anyone taken their rig down to those dirt trails near Lake Benson? Is it worth an afternoon drive from Raleigh?

Found this on a local board, It was dated ...1/2014
"Just a few miles outside of Raleigh, in Garner, is an awesome place to go 4x4-ing. If you head out Benson Rd. (hwy 50), turn left on New Bethel Church Rd., go down less than a mile, right on Oregon Tr., GO TO THE END OF OREGON TR. (or Google Oregon Tr., Garner 27529; you'll see the area on the map).
This is around 1,200 to 1,600 acres of environmental buffer for Lake Benson. There are trails that go for MILES back here. It's full of deer, coyotes, you name it. If you have motocross bikes or ATVs, we typically park down at the end of Oregon tr, as it gets mucky if you go further in.
I've been coming here for over 15 years, and never had any problems. Be prepared during the rainy season, as it's hardcore off-roading. If you get stuck, there's usually someone along to pull you out...eventually."

So, if you haven’t heard, I got married last weekend. We have lots of pics on the wedding thread. The one thing they won’t show is it’s a lot of work!

So, we are going to Rum Runners on Saturday. 6/27.

Not a celebration, just going. Since Saturday isn’t their busy day in the summer, I figured I’d let you all know and if any of you get a wild hair to sing and dance, come out too!

It’s their “Weekend Party” and cover before 10 is 2$. We planning to get there 8-9pm.

Again, this isn’t a wedding celebration, just want to blow off some steam that we didn’t get to do last weekend.

If any of you would like to see the full story and pics of the wedding, or a 10min video of the service, you can find it here:

    Wedding Forum

We had about half of the people there we expected since the weather scared some, and the trails took a couple of others, still it was a great time.

Maybe we will see you on Saturday!

I pulled the trigger on a 2015 DCSB TRD OR package. Now I am fully sucked in to modifying it, I haven't had this much fun since my STi.

Does anyone know of a good shop to install a 3" Toytec or OME lift (haven't decided which yet) and UCAs? Bonus if they know how to align a lifted truck.

Congrats. There's a guy in Cary in a pink vest who specializes in ome lifts if you feed him. I'd also help.

Install it yourself, MOD DAY! ! Firestone lifetime alignment if you don't go crazy with tires/wheels.
I prefer OME, but I'm partial because I have it.

Awesome, thanks! I'll post up when I decide which I chose.

Man, I'd love to, I built my STi myself along with the help of a friend. But, those days are past me unfortunately. A wife and a 1 year old limits my 'fun time' enough; I need some experienced help to get through it. We used to install everything, sometimes 12+ hrs, and just 'figure it out' as we went. Entire fuel systems, pistons, garage alignments, you name it we probably did it. Good times, but my responsibility list was way way shorter back then.

This is also my first truck and I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about them and their nuances. That sets off "all day troubleshooting" alarms in my head, haha. Plus it would be nice to get to know some folks into this around here, install time = social time since I don't get to do much besides work and chase around a 1year old.

I can help get it done in a couple hours minus the alignment but we can get it drivable. I've personally done/helped with at least a dozen lifts now, between first times, change of mind, and worn/broke parts. You buy it and we'll get it installed. Weekends are best for the group, but I'm free most anytime. I also like to teach these first timers (sounds kinda dirty...), ask them I think they enjoyed learning.
Where about do you live? I'm in Cary off of hwy 55.

Snap some before pics and get hub-to-fender measurements before we get excited with the install and forget.

Speaking of ordering, do you recommend extended brake lines? I've seen yes and no to that one. Also, is it worth an extra 90-100 to have the strut assembly put together?
