The Sensi and the Ecobee are both good alternatives to the Nest. I had the extra nerdy requirement of being able to control it over wifi with no "cloud" service involved so I can integrate it into the rest of my systems, and the Radio Thermostat seemed to be the only one that supported that.

Too bad your old ass tech wouldn't even turn on my AC. Google Nest can't even control it yet.

The unit isn't the issue and no I didn't go to home depot. I did my research and bought top of the line. Paid a bunch for it as well and when they told me the Nest wouldn't work I almost killed the sale. I needed AC bad and wanted a good unit so I talked to Nest developers and they are working on it. Until then I HAVE to use this honeywell thermostat.

It's the Honeywell unit that sucks. The UI is crap, its just a pain in the ass to use. My Nest was amazing. Took 3 weeks and I never had to touch it again. The honeywell has about 30 pages of options on it. The nest had 4. Nest didn't need all that shit as the AI took care of it for you. I guess 3.2 billion in R&D really worked for the Nest.

Also to be clear. All I lost is communications with the thermostat wirelessly. I have manual control but most of its 'features' require internet and instead of them using a built in WiFi controller they have a 3rd party box that needs to be hooked up. That box took a shit. I still have AC. 76 in my house currently.

Ya but that ole bastard will still be working while your on hold with India. I'll stick to buying LT parts instead of thermostats.

The room it controls needs constant airflow, so it's set to "Fan On" instead of "Auto"

I'm not on hold with anyone. AC company is bringing me a new one within the hour. I called them, said it died, they said they are on the way. Less then 5 min on the phone.

I'm still confused about the part where Honeywell is "top of the line" in anything residential

I think Colby is probably the one with his priorities straight here... Some people grow up a little and stop pouring every dime they make into their truck, but hey, to each his own.

I didn't say honeywell was top of the line.

The AC unit I have is which isn't made by honeywell.

Doesn't matter, anything anyone posts is total shit to you no matter how good it is.

haha, I just post for the immense amount of butthurt this thread generates. What AC do you have? I'd be kinda surprised if Honeywell is literally the only option. I just replied on the last page with a couple other thermostat options I like.

Ya know some people grow up a little and make more money than others too, so they can have a real play truck and a good DD. And other people like to buy shitty parts and do everything on their truck twice and have it fall apart and not be a suitable DD making them want to trade it in because its now shitty because of your own mods. But hey, to each their own.

Trust me, if I thought it would sell the way it sits she would be gone haha.

At this point I'm getting it back to as reliable as I can, fixing rattles and what not, get her painted then just keep driving it. Its been payed off since I've had it, and I can't do a payment right now :/

I'm assuming you know about trucks falling apart first hand? My truck has never let me down one time, so you must be referencing yourself in this scenario.

Nope, just a valid view point based upon what I have read in this thread and other threads on Tacoworld. My DD truck is stock as fuck and i'm okay with it.

By the way, I don't think my choices in electronics are the best ever. I just do this shit for a living and so am pretty vocal about crappy products. I openly tell anyone asking about my system that my Kenwood deck is a piece of shit, for instance.
