Couldn't pass the deal up. Here are some specs

    Front axle is a 1979 KP 60

    - CTM U joints
-Yukon chromo 35 spline inner and outers
    -Drive slugs
    -5.13 yukon gears
    -Yukon spool
    -Crane HC cover
    -Random high steer arms

Rear axle Dana 60 FF unknown year

    - ARB RD35 "the good one"
    -Yukon chromo 35 spline axles
    -Rear disc kit
    -BTF rear cover
    -5.13 yukon gears

I actually have a sterling 10.25 in the garage right now. More beefy and come with 35 spline axles, real similar to the 14 bolt. Doesn't have a 3rd pinion bearing (meh) and it's got a .25" smaller ring gear, but more clearance. Cost to build the 60 will be about $500 and cost to build a 14 bolt or my sterling will be 2-3 grand.

Damn, good find! sounds like they both got lots of good parts unless you want to gear lower. might as well build the 60 since its at least 4x cheaper...

It's a different cut angle on the spline so even though it's 30 spline it's still strong. Also if I'm not mistaken there are a few coarse spline Dana 60s it there from the early years.

I'd much rather have the bigger rear, but oh well. Still a big upgrade compared to my stock 9".

Not all d60 are 30 spline either some are 35 stock. Good thing for me, it's 35 spline chromo.

So are you going to link the rear since the mounts are already there? Or you just going to leave it leaf sprung till you decide to take the plunge

Considering we all know the cost of swapping to tons, I can't afford to link the rear. Next year probably. Also, the downtime. I do not like downtime on my truck. Linking the rear will be a several week project. Swapping to tons should only take me a week, once the axles are good to go of course!

Heard that. I would probably do that same thing since you just got the front linked too

D44 left, D60 right. Just shows you how small the D44 is. Incredible.

Initial findings, driver side high steer stud in the knuckle is stripped out. Will need all new high steer studs, driver side lower KP bearing is bad. Basically all seals need replaced (that's a given). Spindle is still running needle bearings so I will be replacing with UHMW bushings. Needs carrier bearings as there isn't any that came with the axle. Missing snap rings on the outer stubs... Petty things really.

You going to plate the knuckles or just pony up for some solids or reids?

I wish I could buy reids. I shouldn't need them tho as long as I reinforce them with some plate.

Yeah, need more triangulation somewhere. I think we can pull the uppers in more (maybe 1.5 to 2" each side)
