Rf output fail =( help!!

I have attempted to put my on cb radio in and i cant seem to calibrate it at all.... Here are some pics of what i did. Any ideas on how to fix it???

 

I hooked the power into the fuse box drive side

 

RF is probably pointing to the antenna/coax system. It turned on, so power and ground are at least ok.

Where is that ground strap attached? If the conductor is grounded, the radio can't transmit. Normally, only the mounting plate needs to be "connected" to a metal surface as a ground plane.

 

This ground strap doesnt ground to metal IIRC. It's just bolting to the composite bed.

 

I also tried this. When i try to calibrate i cant move the swr meter at all to tune

 

Not good. Your grounding out the coax which is damaging the radio. If needed, only the mounting plate can be grounded using one of the 4 mounting screws.

A standard L-shaped Mirror Mount and a couple uni-strut nuts inside the rails can lead to a cleaner/tighter install.

 

Still have issues with not being to calibrate or tune. When i move the gain knobb it still wont move the swr meter

 

Check radio output with watt meter and dummy load in place of antenna. CB shop can do this in minutes. if radio checks out next step coax, then mount and finally antenna Note ground strap in picture is not connected to a vehicle ground but just to plastic bed wall. Note you would be better off mounting the antenna to a metal part of the truck, cab, bumper etc. to achieve a proper ground plane. Trouble finding CB shop check with local truck stop.
