I am trying to sell my dads Corvette for him. I have posted it on craigslist, but we have not gotten a single bite. It is a beautiful car, in great shape, and has absurdly low miles. Anyone have any advice on selling the car other than craigslist (what i have always used)? Here is my posting https://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/5087344100.html Thanks

Sharp car! I really don't have any advice on what you could do better on your ad. I do know that the 80s Corvettes had a ton of issues and people who wants a Vette usually shies away from them. I'm not saying your Dad's falls in that but cars tend to be stuck with their reputations.

I used a broker to sell my 2012 GS last Summer. But at $50,000 a broker makes a lot of sense. For a $9000 87', I wouldn't go the broker route.

Usually when you don't have any calls, the price is too high. Also, most Corvettes have "low" miles and most only drive them leisurely and not for actual transportation. I think you're in the odd "for the money, I'll get something a little newer/If I'm gonna buy a 'Vette, I'm either going to get a new one or a classic.". I think you're just caught in the middle. The 3rd gens are getting hot, the new C7 is hot and is priced nicely for what you get and the economy is really gearing up so people aren't looking for bargains. They want new or a classic.

My advice, either drop the price or store it for another 10-15 years when the 4th gens start to get really hot. And they will. Right now the 4th gens are the red headed stop child of the Corvette World. It was the 3rd gens but now everyone wants a 3rd gen. They're just getting going too. It's gonna be minute before the 4th gens are popular again. They're hitting bottom as we speak.

i know the area can slightly change the value but my friend just bought a early 90's c4 vette, super clean 6 speed with new wheels/tires, targa top, i think around 50k miles, he paid $5k

have you posted it on the corvette forums? like any car they have fan boys who might pay top dollar

put it on autotrader, ebay, or cars.com. you'll be one of the cheapest with that mileage. that kind of car is too much of a niche vehicle to sell on a local forum like craigslist. you'll probably find someone out of state that will want to buy it

What do you think is most popular, Cars.com or autotrader?

    This is good advice.

People who are looking for something specific are usually willing to travel for the right car. My dad and I both have Foxbody Mustangs. I bought mine in North Carolina and he bought his in Missouri, and we live in Texas. We found both of them on Autotrader.

    Good luck with the sale.

Lower the price, put it on more sites? Maybe eBay?

Your price is too high. Low miles doesn't really mean much on a car that is almost 30 years old. Check other adds for the same year in and around your area.

based on what? look at the rest of the market. there isn't anything with less than 30k listing for less than 11k similar to his car. i think as long as he stays below 10k he's going to be able to unload it quickly, just have to get it in front of the right audience

thank you everybody. Is autotrader a free site to use? I also like the idea of posting in other cities craigslist. I may try boston, hartford etc.
