I know, right? Craziness, but I saw people proposing just that earlier in this same thread. I mentioned it because I was dumbfounded that someone would do that and then claim there was a problem with the equipment they were abusing in such a fashion.

Shifting with out the clutch is fine---------------as long as you do it perfectly every time. Any one who says it's OK has no clue as to how a synco works and what it does to them when it is not shifted properly. Old transmissions had no syncros and you needed to match speeds in order to not grind the gears if you missed it was no big problem gears are hard. Enter syncro rings they are brass or a soft alloy there job is to brake the gear they are what matches the speeds, when you push in the clutch it drops the loading on the gears now try that with out the clutch and you are forcing the ring harder into the gear to bring it up to speed read hard steel against a soft ring unless you perfectly match the speed. I have been driving sticks for a very long time and I can not do it perfectly every time. It is a right pain to remove the trans and replace blocker rings but keep it up the shops could use the work.
