    Does anyone know what illumination wires I need to tap into on a 1st gen?

    I have the brown and white wires coming off the switch backs and I want the switches to illuminate and dim with the dimmer knob.

    Again, this is for a 1st gen. I don't have any factory switches or blanks. Thanks.

    I do. But no astray light.

    My rear locker switch dims with the knob. I just have no idea what wires to tap into.

    I have a 98 Tacoma. I think that's the same as the 96-02 4runners.

    I'm going to check your install thread. Did you manage to run the brown and white wires (from the switch backs) to appropriate wires in your cab that makes the switches dim?

    I didn't post pictures because I didn't tap them into anything. I noticed that my ashtray has illumination. My thoughts were to cut the bulb socket off and wire into it since I'm removing the ashtray to install a cab radio in it's place.

    I didn't do it then because I didn't have an ohm meter to determine which was common ground. I found out last weekend tho.

    There's two wires that go to the ashtray illumination. One solid green and a striped one. The striped one was ground.

    I just read the same conversation, between you and I, in your install thread :)

    For now I'll just hook the switch backs up and worry about the illumination later.

    That was for my 3rd Gen 4runner. I've heard 1st gen tacos have the same wiring schematics and hardware parts
